Flaming knives

Also, this is a knife forum. If you really want flaming knives, you'll have to invent something yourself. Try wrapping the blades in a wicking (paracord) and soak it in kerosene. That is pretty much the only way I can think it will work. The handle will probably get stupid hot or metl though. be carefule.

thank you for all the interesting comments, and the useless warnings. can anyone tell me something other than knives are for cutting. any legitimate links to some REAL professional who makes knives custom for more than just "cutting"

You aren't looking for knives, you are looking for props. This is not a prop discussion forum, this is a knife discussion forum. You might have luck at any variety of other sites geared towards entertainment, stunts, or basic tinkering.

If you want a great pocket knife, a multi purpose camp knife, a machete, or even a several thousand dollar custom Bowie then we could probably be more helpful ;)

^^Exactly.

Professional knife guys wouldn't set a knife on fire, and would only use a knife to cut. Not juggle, flip, flame, pry, screw etc. Oh boy. Also, we are worried that your idiocy may get you harmed by a knife, which would potentially give knives a bad name.

Just did a quick search and found that fire knives are just prop knives wrapped with cloth of some description soaked in flammable liquid.
Google some juggling supply webstores. I found a truck load just from a brief search.

well after watching your video, most of us arn't going to be too interested in putting something sharp and on fire in your hands.

You could probably figure out something to do with those.

except light them on fire, except that steel isnt very flammable. and its in custom knives because i have not been able to find something like this in the usual pawn shop knife
section. please if you have a legitimate answer help me, if not, cool.

HELZ YEA!!!!!!! i'm glad to see i'm not alone. i don't just flip balisongs, i love to flip fixed blades. pretty similar to you, just not quite as much behind the back stuff. you got some skills, ignore all the negative comments which are hillarious when you consider how much folks ON THIS SITE will cheer eachother on about FLIPPING balisongs.

i wish i could help ya out, but i've never crossed that line into flipping flaming knives. i hope ya find what works for you and keep posting up vids. i gotta ask - what got you into it? i know what got me doing it, but i'm way older than you and i'm guessing it wasn't the same movie :)

Ok ridiculing the man isnt going to do much.. He came here with a legitimate question, granted it is one that almost none of us agree with and a lot of us think is stupid, but he is an adult or appears to be of legal adult age and if he wants to put himself at risk that is his choice, plus he appears to be skilled so the risk is less. Ridiculing him wont do much to convince him not to. </defence>

now OP sorry we couldnt be much help, but doing just about anything but cutting with knives is very frowned apon on this forum. What you are looking for is very specialized and not something people on here do. From what i have gathered no one here knows of anybody who makes knives for that purpose. I suggest going with the google idea and looking for prop knives... or wrap a knife you already have in an accelerant soaked wick of somesort.

maybe you should start out with a local fire danceing class and then takeing it from there?

Hi, im looking for some (and dont laugh if this is stupid for whatever reason) knives that are easy to ignite, and stay lit for long periods of time. a friend of mine suggested the idea, and i have not found anything on the web about knives meant specifically for igniting. any thoughts?

except light them on fire, except that steel isnt very flammable.

Seriously, did you take chemistry in high school? Did you graduate? Have you ever used a toaster or an oven or a BBQ grill before? I'd pay $5 to see the pawn shop guy's face when you asked him about lighting knives on fire. Steel isn't flammable. Even wrapping a knife in something flammable isn't a great idea. For one thing, whatever you wrap it in (cloth, string) is going to cover the edge and make it pointless (and edgeless) to be tossing a knife about. For another thing, if the blade gets too hot, you could ruin the temper of the knife, and/or permanently discolor the blade. Not to mention that steel conducts heat and the "safe" part of the knife (the handle) is liable to get hot and either ruin the handle, burn your hand, or both. What you want is a prop of some sort, and burnability has nothing to do with the steel (or whatever) of the knife, and everything to do with whatever you're actually burning. Maybe there's some sort of gunk you can coat your knife with (assuming you don't care about what it'll do to it) that you can ignite and it'll burn for a long time. Like pitch or Vaseline or something. It'd have to be thick and sticky, or it'd be liable to fly of the spinning knife and light your ass on fire. In any case, bladeforums really isn't the place to ask. Trust me, I've been here a while, and seen pretty much every question that can be asked at least once...except this one. Surely there's a juggling forum somewhere on the internets that can help you better than we can.

You might be able to glue or epoxy a wick type material to the blade.

You should email KnifeyMckniferson(sp.), he will probably know the answer.

Maybe try putting together a coherent post explaining what you are looking for instead of a bunch of cryptic puzzle pieces that expect people to know what a knife that burns is. I'm sure a wood handle kitchen knife will burn if you stick it in a fire.

If you want to impress people do that with a 'sharp' knife where you have to touch only handle instead of just throwing around a dull knife as fast as possible without letting it hit the ground. Or get a quality Balisong that is meant to flip around and manipulate.

Speak for yourself! I'd love to see video of this young man juggling flaming knives.

Any knife will work for you. Keep in mind: 1) steel doesn't ignite; and 2) juggling dulled flaming blades is for pansies. Forget wrapping the balde in flammible-fluid soaked rags...the rags are just going to cover up the edge.

What you want to do is slather the sucker in Sterno and spark it up, home boy!

Please do video it. (Try not to set your parents' front lawn on fire though.)

I always thought these knives wear kinda flaming...

Welcome to BladeForums! Can you feel the love?!?

Flipping knives is fun, I grew up doing stupid stuff like that too. :) Check out the Balisong section of this forum, your skills will be much more appreciated there me thinks.

I've seen flaming battons, flaming swords, and flaming nun-chucks, so I'm sure you could come up with some kind of flaming knife. Apparantly you just picked the wrong place to ask about it. Good luck though, don't let these guys discourage you.
