Just finished my new flat grinding jig. Went with all aluminum and stainless steel this time. It's a lot lighter now. Changed the clamping system also.

I added my hand in some of the pictures for size comparison.

Damn! That's like my sled jig on steroids. Very very cool sir. That little blade is sweet too!

Yes that is awesome! Would love to try it and see what its like! Would really like a YouTube video of it in action!

Isn't tool making fun!!!! Great work!! Great little jig! I need to post my version soon. Somewhat similar except no clamping!

Great design mods. One of the nicest sled jigs I've seen. Can it be used with hidden tang blades? When you change the blade from one side to the other; how do you align the plunge cuts so they end up at the same angle?

Fred if you notice in the pictures there is a scribed line on the tang. I line it up with the top of the jig. The one line works for both sides. So when you flip it around the angle is the same. And yes it works with any style knife. I use it for folder blades. I'll try and show that later tonight.

Do you lift the blade up at the end of each stroke, to account for the tip? That jig is beautiful.

Since you are offering these for sale here I want to suggest members read another thread below that has a sled type you lock the blade in and then can turn to do the opposite side without removing the blade. The secret on that one is it has a tilting table. I use one with the same ideas involved that is excellent. Frank

I never offered anything for sale here.

Someone said I should sell them. I said I do

The question I have is how do you rotate the blade "around the grind" While the grind you show there may be a flat grind, it is not a straight full height grind but one that follows the curvature of the blade. Does tilting the tip down in the jig do that for you? or is that done strictly to get the slanted plunge cut?
