Flat Ground Folders?

Gosh guys ,Thanks for the welcome!!! I am honored!! Glad you like my stuff. So if Kershaw decided to make the Taboo, How do you think they should interpret it ? Down and dirty (stainless slab handles and framelock)like the Shallot to keep it affordable ?Slightly upscale? Tricked out and high end?It would be nice to get your input on this.
Lock?
size?
Price (Be realistic)?
Materials?
Grind?
Steel?
I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again for the warm reception. I'll make it a point to spend more time here and be more involved.

Super highend production Taboo
Framelock
Same as the custom
$300+ MSRP
TIMASCUS
Same as custom
S90V

Serial Numbered and limited to 1000 or less (a little something for the hardcore Kershaw guys).

Mahalo, Ken!

I agree with spiral 100%. VERY high end production.

I'd like to see it as close to the original as you would allow, in appearance and size. S90V, frame lock, numbered limited run of 500 to 1000 pieces. MSRP of $ 350 to $ 400 wouldn't be a problem.

The Shallot is a great platform for future sprint runs, so raise the bar with this one. Can I write the check now?

Thanks for asking our opinions! And please do stop by more often!

Oh boy, here we go!

1. Framelock or stud lock
2. About the size of the Ti Bump or the Blur, not as big as the Large Cyclone. How big is the KO custom Taboo? 3.5" blade?
3. I would pay a lot for one, but a retail around $350 would keep the street price more accessible for average buyers. A lot would depend on how many could be produced.
4a. Blade Steel: POLISHED S30V, 154CM, ZDP, or Composite CPM-D2/Sandvik. No coatings
4b. Handle: Steel with colored G10/Carbon Fiber inserts,or anodized Titanium, or Titanium with the inserts. I would take the steel with inserts happily if it brings this knife to my home!
5. Whatever the KO Custom Taboo grind has is what I would want. It looks hollow-ground to me, but I'm not certain. The grind is so beautiful though, and is one of my favorite aspects of the Taboo.
6. Speedsafe obviously, and Tip-Up carry option would be nice too.
7. The pocket clip design should be nicer than average, but regular 410 stainless is sufficient.

So have I been begging and bugging you and Thomas enough for this to happen????

Ken, it is really great to have you spend so much of your (no doubt) scarce free time here with us.

I definitely agree with most of what has been said, highend, as close to the custom as possible would be great.
I do think something in the $100-110 street price bracket would be nice as well.

Do the high end as a limited run and the mid as regular production.

Of course, I'd love to see a stud lock on it, but I would let aesthetics dictate the most appropriate lock.

Spec Bump size. (Though Jeremy is probably right about Ti Bump size as best.)

I'll take one if it can fit into my highschool budget.....:D

Less than 200 dollars at NGK please!

Other then that I have full confidence Kershaw will make something I like.

Oh, and Ken, thanks for giving us all the oppurtunity for voicing our opinions!

I'll go against the grain here, and say that I'd like a regular production Taboo using standard materials, with maybe a few upgrades.
Lock - frame
Size - 3-3.5 in blade
Price - less than $100
Materials - SS framelock handle with g10 overlays. I'd really like to see more knives with this handle configuration - like the Groove. I like the security of the SS frame lock, but the added grip from the G10. I can't stand the feel of the plain SS framelocks - too thin and slippery. Looking at the patterns on the custom Taboos, I think SS with overlays would look really sharp.
Grind - flat
Steel - 14C28N

Not a bad idea about the G10 overlays, but I think we should get a better steel. Does Sandvik polish up very well?
