Flint & Steel Using Punk As A Coal Expander

Here are a couple pics I took earlier today. As you can see I modified the piece of file. I sanded the edges almost smooth on my bench belt sander being careful not to over heat it. I took off some of the "teeth" as well. Still grippy but the smooth edges strike better than the original cut edges.

Its hard to see but I rounded the corners too and put a little concave area at the ends so I can get a little better feel and control.

One of these days I'll un-lazy myself and find a striker. I might have to hit up one of the knife makers here that make the cool little blacksmith knives. As it stands, this kit cost me 0$ and I'm happy with how it works.

Chris - that is all you need (and a $30 SS water bottle and........) :D Nice kit!

That's cool man, I like that little kit. My first striker was a piece of file. I know what you mean, I want one of Rick's Strifes but the kit I have works just fine and besides I think he has been too busy to make any of them lately. I really can not complain about the kit I have so I'll be fine for a while, but I do someday want a smaller striker.
