Flipper 7

I could be wrong but from looking at the pictures your finger is going to lay in the curve just before the flipper...

It does, but what I'm saying is that the flipper forces your grip back on the frame. If you look at thebong's pic below, you'll see what I mean.

With the standard, your hand can go all the way up the grip to the fron of the pivot (or start of the blade), whereas on the flipper, your hand can't go past the rear of the flipper.

I'm guessing there is about a 1/2" difference in "usable" grip between the two versions. I just want to see if anyone with the flipper thinks their grip feels cramped at all.

Was wondering the same thing, and it's really the main reason I hadn't bought one

I don't like what it did to the look of the CQC-7 and will stay away. Makes it look to dolphin-ish or sharky. :) But....

I can also see how Flipper fans would love it. I just don't like what it did to the classic lines of the knife. I look at it as more of an F-blade option.

Also, one of the things I like best about the 7 is the generous handle. Looks like it looses a little bit.

It's not a bad design but I would want to grip one before purchasing. The flipper does take space from the finger groove when opened. Tbh I think I prefer the Sheepdog as the Emerson flipper. But if I could try a Flipper 7 I may change my mind because pictures can only tell so much. I loved the Sheepdog when I first saw it.

I got to handle one and it definitely makes you choke back a little, but you aren't falling off the edge of the bed. Still plenty of handle.

I'll probably get one and grind off the flipper tab. The silky bearings and S35VN blade are too hard to resist.
