Flipper suggestions

The exchange. $150 shipped to my door. I've seen a couple other new ones for that price there too.

Well I edited my post above but Ill repeat it here. I dont consider that a new knife. Good knife, Like new, great condition? Sure. New? not IMHO. I have seen too many people say NIB or LNIB and my idea of new and their idea of new is a little different. To me new is purchased from a dealer. And with so many people flipping defective knives when "they dont like them" I am a bit weary unless the person just has a stellar reputation and quite a few years on the forum. So we can amount it to our differing opinion on what new is if you wish. I personally rather buy easy to find knives from a dealer and I know their history which is not owned, not taken apart etc. You may have got lucky. But with many fakes of that knife in all of its configurations and the scum that are dishonest I call it a gamble at that price. If you got a good one and its the real deal then I say you got a great deal. But again that doesnt make it the norm.

Now you may be thinking "this is a great community no one does that" you just need one hour in TGBU to know that people are trying to take advantage all the time. Guys buying a knife finding its defective and selling it without telling anyone its defective only to mention it in a thread later on.... oops. No Im not talking about a specific person but it happens. Another that DID in fact happen but I wont mention their name actually bought a user emerson pimped knife on the exchange, got it in the mail and ripped it apart and was doing blade swaps and other BS to it and when he didnt get the money he thought he would get by flipping it he made up some crap about it being not as described and tried to put it back together the way he bought it and blamed the person who sold it to him saying they misrepresented the condition. That was over a month after he bought it to boot. And I have seen too many "brand new" knives with issues. Id like to believe I just have the worst luck in the world, but i think its a fifty fifty split of bad luck and dishonest sellers. We have some great people on this forum. But any place that is public is bound to get a few bad people. And with this guy being relatively new to the knife game I cant say with confidence he is going to be able to properly evaluate a new purchase. And in that regard I recommend a dealer.

You'll have a lot more options in the $150-$200 price range for brand new quality ball-bearing flippers.

  • ZT 0450, 0808, 0801, 0801BW, 0562
  • Spyderco Southard, Domino, Dice
  • Reate Hills, District 9
  • Kizer Tomcat, Flashbang, Dorado, Caligine

It had never cut anything, and had hardly even been touched elsewhere. IMO, that's new. I know there are some bad sellers/buyers here, but this knife is for sure 100% real.

Agree to disagree. Even if legit i dont see it as new. If you want to take peoples word that it never cut anything that is your choice. And as long as it "looks" like it never cut anything or hasnt been taken apart then be content believing that. I however am not so trusting. Ive simply been lied to too much. Different strokes.

I have both a ZT 0450 and a Spyderco Domino (Blue carbon scales).

Both are wonderful knives. The ZT, as mentioned, is closer to your budget. Stretch the $10 to get it (it's that good as an EDC knife with a HEC feel)

The Domino is closer to $200 configured like I have it (new anyway) - but it's $40 better than the 0450. Once you get to know it, it's an amazingly good blade and more fun and satisfying to handle than a PM2.

If you're being a bit more budget conscious, CRKT punches waaaay above their price point in terms of handling and operation - any of their flippers are worth looking at.

for under 150$ go with the ZT 0566, which can be easily de-assisted if you want.

I'd peruse the knife exchange subforum here, you get some great deals for $150 or less on knives that have often barely been used or even still NIB, for much less than a retail store. If you do buy from a dealer, I'd recommend checking out the Bladeforums official Dealers list and buy from one of them rather than just any old website, not only do you know you're dealing with a quality company, but you also support those who support the forums here where you get your quality information from. It's a win/win.

Also, Kershaw probably has the best bang for your buck in regards to flippers, the Cryo II is a very good knife for the price, as is the Knockout and the Skyline. If you wanna step it up a notch, the ZT0566 is a fantastic little thing, and the 0560 is a monster of a flipper but really well made. All of them can be found for your price range if you look in the exchange, the Kershaws can be bought new for under $100 easy.

Kershaw (premium) skyline

Buck vantage pro s30v

Buck open season s30v

Kizer options s35v

Can't go wrong with any of those...

I've done many, many transactions here on the exchange, and never once did I get burned. Not one single time. If you deal with someone who has good feedback, and a lot of it, chances are they aren't gonna ruin their reputation here by trying to pass you a POS knife. Now, granted, there are often those who are simply gouging people, and their prices show it. I just chuckle and think "yeah, good luck with that!".
Also, people shouldn't claim their knife is brand new in box if they have opened it up and played with it. "Like new" would be more fitting. And I've seen many times folks take it out only for pictures. Can you believe them? I just go by their feedback, and the behind the scenes conversation you have with them.
