Hello. This is my first post in BladeForums. I am not an enthusiast so sorry if what I say comes off as too newbie-ish.

Anyway, I'm looking for some flipper knives under $20 that are good for EDC and fidgeting with. Any recommendations?

I would prefer knives without small blades and are for right handed carry, and no pocket clip (or at least detachable).
another oddly specific thing is colours. weirdly coloured knives are sexy.

if you want to fidget, I'd stay away from assisted openers, like a lot of the Kershaws.

Smith & Wesson has a few. They are mostly around the $10 - $25 range.

Alternatively, if you don't mind Chinese brands, SanRenMu's 7xxx series have quite a few flipper models, some of which are even non-locking.

But regardless of the brand you choose, don't expect a <$25 flipper to fully propel open when the flipper tab is pressed, because they never will.

If you can save up a little more buy a crkt hootinnany. Its about 36$ and flips amazingly for its price point. It only has black handles though. I made a set of epay handles for mine because i was board. The pocket clip is detachable too.

You aren't going to find fun flippers under $20.
The best low priced flipper I have handled is the CRKT Swindle. Think it's a tad under $40 and it is a great flipper! Un assisted, BB pivot, cool blade profile, decent blade steel and one cool looking knife!!
Most of all, it is a literal fantastic flipper!!

This is a HUGE knife, but it flips great. Google Bad Blood Dreadnaught about $25 Amazon Prime free ship or other places as well

good knife and $20 you are not going to find. you will find really low end budget models and gas station knives. heck you can get a flipper from walmart for $8.that 8$ walmart knife is just as bad as a $20 ganzo... they are particularly junk. The main reason not to buy a ganzo is because there sole purpose is to sell knives based off of other well known designs... which is steeling, and wrong.

i would suggest Ruike for a flipper for 30-40$

you get budget materials that are better than gas station knives but decent action for fidgeting. best of both worlds on a budget. if you like this you may get into knives and start buying ZT's, Sebenza's etc. it will hopefully be a gateway.

While not a flipper, the Ontario Rat 2 is hard to beat for just over $20. It's not a flipper but fires like a cannon. The Rat 1 and 2 are some of the best flicking knives out there and they are not expensive. They just fly open.

Good advice here, also I have a Kershaw Chill flipper that I got for less than $20 that flips pretty well after breaking it in but nothing compared to my ZT 0450cf.

I'd recommend you save your $20 you were going to spend, put back some $ for a month or two and buy a ZT flipper. You won't be disappointed.

For a 20 dollar flipper, I'll always suggest a CRKT M16. I got one as a gift and it's solid. It doesn't have an IKBS system, but it flips well once you get the hang of it. It runs on phosphor bronze washers(like most knives).

I can't recall the exact name of mine, but it's an all steel frame. I believe it's a M16-10KS or something to that matter, it's tanto, but they have the same design with a drop point blade. I beat the ever living shite out of it and haven't had a single issue so far.

Obviously there are better flippers out there, my Domino shames the CRKT M16(it's also costs literally 10x as much), but as a budget flipper it just works.

I love the M-16s. I have two that, like you, I beat the ever living shite out of. Even when I moved up in the knife price world to mid-techs and low-end customs I kept my M-16s. But in my opinion they are not good fidget knives. They are very big, flip "heavy", and they have a safety.

I have an CRKT M16 01Z. I was going to suggest it, but mine has this goofy extra lock that you have to disengage to release the liner lock. Do they all have that? Can it be disabled? It takes away from the fun of flipping imo.

The AutoLawks safety can be removed but it is a feature of the knife which, along with its big size and low cost, makes it a great beater. Take it away and you've sort of removed an important part of the character of the knife. Obviously, YMMV. :)

Mine is the smaller, non locking one just a steel frame lock. It's super thin as well. Need to use some force to flip it, but nothing extreme.

I know they made one before mine, it was a bit bulkier and used a safety that I can't remember the name of.

Mine is the smaller one. I don't disagree that an extra safety adds another layer of protection (a belt and suspenders), if that is what you are looking for, but I think the OP wants to sit on the couch and flip repeatedly, in which case disengaging an additional lock will be a PITA.

I agree with that completely. My M16-10KS(that is the right name) is a great cheap flipper. It was actually my first flipper and I can attest to just lounging around popping that blade back and forth. I'd get old having to disengage a second lock over and over.

It's as good a budget flipper as you can get for $20.

Can't seem to find any of the CRKT or Kershaw knives even under $30.
For me it doesn't have to be of any really well known brands, it just has to at least be a decent knife.

Ebay has plenty of flipper type blades for $20.00 Not of any quality but if you are limited to $20.00 This is the place to shop...
