Flippers with great action. Please post pics

This one works soooo much better than my 0560.

This is the best flipper I've ever handled, it's like it opens with magic, it's just unreal. The smoothness is like rolling a marble along a silk sheet, it's absolute perfection. Also, absolutely no blade play. I don't think anything will flip as good (or better) unless it's perhaps an RJ Martin, Sinkevich, or Shirogorov.

This is my idea of what beauty looks like.

This Silent soldier flipper has the best action of any flipper I have handled, plus its not assisted. The detent is strong, and do we even have to talk about its looks. Its easily the most optically pleasing knife I own with the carbon fiber with the acid wash blade. I think of it as a hulked out gentlemens folder.

I personally have never handled one but I have watched videos, which im sure dont do it justice but it looks like it opens and closes super smooth.

The retention strength of the detent plays a huge role in tuning a flipper.

The blade weight also plays into the speed aspect of deploying.

My ZT801CF and my ZT0562 are both GREAT flippers.

There's no production knife and VERY few custom's that compares to RJ!

Love that pivot, you don't see him do many of those. I agree that Rj's knives are like no other. Besides being lightning fast, they are just, different. It's hard to describe the action to someone that has never felt it. I have flippers that are faster by a hair, but the feel is different. It's a combination of the heavy blade, the incredibly strong detent, and what a lot of people forget to factor in (IMHO is the most important part) the placement of the flipper tab in relation to the pivot. Most of Rj's knives that I've handled are not completely free falling and frictionless like a lot of other knives on bearings, yet his action is faster, usually. Similar to a Shirogorov on washers, has a lot to do with the flipper placement.

Mentioned above, Shirogorov makes some phenomenal flippers. Their models that are on washers, are 9/10 times faster than most production models with bearings.

Here's a few of my favorite flippers. That's a Dustin Turpin Logic in the middle for those of you that aren't familiar. Each one of those are great in it's own right, yet have completely different action.

The ZT is frictionless balls to the wall fast and powerful. Strongest detent I've ever felt by far.

The Shiro is on washers, but it's smoother than a CRK but still has that noticeable sebenza tension on it. Good detent, and perfect flipper placement makes it extremely quick also.

The Turpin is a good balance of both. It's not completely frictionless, but it hits on the key factors to being one of the best.

CRKT Foresight on IKBS, smoothest knife I've ever owned. Opens faster than any of my assisted knives and is 5X smoother.

Those really do have the best action of any production knife I have handled. Sure they dont have the best steel nor do I care for the all black. But speaking just from a smoothness and operating standpoint I have never found an equal. Which is scary.

That's what put me off buying it for so long was the all black. I don't care for the black finish, but It'll wear away soon enough then I'll get it stonewashed. To me Aus-8 is an okay steel, but for the price I paid for the blade, it was worth it. But I agree with you on the smoothness and operation, it's top tier. It's better than any blade I've ever handled and for that reason it's quickly knocking more knives out of my EDC rotation.

I've got a ZT0350, a ZT801, a CRKT Hi Jinx and a ZT0560.
Without the assist it goes like this:
#1.) ZT0560
#2.)Hi Jinx
#3.) ZT801
#4.)ZT0350

I primarily collect flippers & have what most people consider some of the best.

This is just my opinion.
Flipping has 3 categories for me:

1. deployment speed
2. ease of deployment
3. feel/sound of deployment

I am lucky enough to have moved into the ultra rare collectible knives and either have or handle some of the impossible to gets.
Here is my top 6:

1. Frank Fischer Battle XL - This is the absolute best, anyone that I have let flip this knife have been jaw dropped. It can't not be fully deployed, its insanely fast and flips with massive recoil. The sound is like the Q36 on steroids and the force of the 0888 & Direware blade. Also the smoothest flipper I have. Has a strong detent and flipper tab geometry is perfect for easy deployment, this is added by a bolster lock so you never put pressure on the lock bar like some frame locks.

2. Andre Thorburn L51 - 2nd only to the fischer in speed & smoothness, sound is good with medium force. It is like an auto. the easiest deployment and perfect tab geometry. it is a liner lock

3. RJ Martin Q36 liner - so unique in its feel and sound. speed is just a little bit slower than the thorburn. medium deployment ease, tab is a little sharp, liner lock.

4. Shirogorov mod 95 w/ SRBS - smooth & fast with a unique mechanical feel. easy deployment, if you slip you will cut your finger as the blade sits high in the frame. Frame lock so you do have to watch your finger pressure, but its pretty good geometry.

5. ZT 0888 Composite - fast & powerful. has the 2nd most recoil behind the Fischer. medium deployment, frame lock so be careful with finger pressure

6. Reate Hills - This thing is pure speed. It may be the fastest flipper I have ever handled. medium deployment, frame lock have to be careful not to add too much pressure to lockbar.

If there is a particular flipper you are looking to get a feel for let me know, I got a lot of customs and only listed the top 6 I liked.
