The floaty frogs have become bloaty frogs. All six are still alive, and all are rather portly.

I imagine that is a good thing to other floaty frogs? or are they plagued with poor self image problems like the rest of our society...

You call them "Floaty Frogs," but I'll always think of them as Cthulhu Frogs.

I trust that they're being fed on some sort of amphibian food and not, you know, souls.

I imagine floaty frogs eat floaty fish ?

actually all you have to do is collect used soda bottles that still have just a bit left in them, then you strain the soda and collect the "floaties". Frogs that help with recycling--priceless!

That picture is rocking, AA.

Cthulhu and Dagon so approve of this thread. You mark my words, we're going to be the very last people to be eaten when they take over the world.

Josh, have you noticed that every one of your floating frog threads becomes a Cthulhu thread in short order? That ought to tell you something:

Ia! Ia! Cthulhu phtagn!

Dave,

I was wondering about the Cthulu bent, thankfully we have the Atreides Weirding ways...

What was done to the frogs to make them floating frogs?

Bloaty frog == Chibi Cthulhu. Observe:

There was a Lovecraft short story about a man being pursued by something that terrified him . He could only see it by its passage through the grass . Does this ring a bell with anybody ? Can you tell me the collection it came in ?

Are they good to eat?

I love seeing these posts Josh. Kewl.

Floaty frogs, plush Cthulhu dolls, and Josh's own unique spin on Lovecraft's work. This thread is outstanding.

(And watch it with the Dune references, 45-70. My name is a killing word.)

Back to the original topic (now that I'm done trashing Josh's thread), what exactly do you feed the floaty frogs? Meal worms? Waxworms? SOULS? Or just fish flakes?

I feed them them live crickets imported from R'lyeh by the local pet store. Just out of curiosity, is it normal for a pet store to be located in a cemetery? The floaties eat small/medium crickets, but the biggest two are, I think, getting almost ready for large crickets. They're brutally efficient hunters; the damned things will leap across the tank, snag a cricket off the side of a rock, drag it down to the depths until it ceases its pitiful struggles, and then devour it whole. I love them.

You will all think me mad; it matters not. I've studied Olaus Wormius' forbidden Latin translation of the dread Necronomicon and the loathsome black letter edition enough to know the true meaning of this foul amulet I found wrapped in plain brown paper with a strange, foetid slime upon its surface, sitting upon my doorstep like some uninvited and unwelcome guest. It was addressed, in a spidery and peculiarly archaic hand, to The Floaty Frogs of Tindalos.

OK, that last floaty frog picture was waaay too cute. :)

Hmm, not sure about that one. Did the story end with an exclamation point? ;)
There's a bunch of short stories online here in case you want to hunt around for it.

I was thinking about that. "The Dunwich Horror", IIRC, featured an invisible beast as one of the antagonists. Except for one brief period at the end of the story the creature could only be tracked by its footprints and its movement through vegetation.

Was that the one?

Thing about Lovecraft is, just when you think that you've read all his stuff, you find something new. The man was a prolific writer.

Josh, your medallion has "Dagon" written all over it. If you're interested in a trade, I have an exquisite greenish-gold tiara that I might be willing to part with. (It's amazing what one finds on Ebay these days, and OMarsh331 always has something cool for sale.)
