FN 5.7 Hertsel

CZ 52 with steel core projectile will go through most if not all soft body armors. The pistol isnt constructed for "hot loads", but can survive use of machine gun laboration (the same as for vz.26 submachine gun). Beware, the pistol is prone for crackin in front of closure, which need to be replaced after some 5000 shots for safety reasons. The 9 mm parabellum kit is worth of buying.
It has unpleasant handshock, because the load isnt really constructed for pistols, but for machineguns. The grip is quite big and unpleasant to hold and to shoot it with any reasonable accuracy you have to delaborate load for 2/3 of standard power.

BUt for the money........... :)

From left to right are .22lr, FN 5.7, 5.56x45, 7.62x51, 9x19, .40 S&W and 12 gauge. My $.02 is that the 5.7 has some merit in being able to defeat light body armor and has a high "cool" factor, but is chambered in weapons issued to people whose main job is not to shoot someone to death. A burst from a P90 is one thing, but individual rounds fired out of a pistol length barrel may be quite another. In a pistol, I would prefer a caliber that starts with a "4".

Somewhat off topic, here is Beretta's new PX4 handgun (9x19 and .40). Interchangeable backstraps, trigger mechanisms and even different sized magazine release buttons and slide stop levers to accommodate different sized hands.

Thanks for the picture, Manny, it adds perspective to the discussion.

How does the 5.7's size compare to the .221 Fireball? I see that CZ has added the .221 to it's short action 527 mini-mauser along with .22 Hornet; .222 Rem.; .223 Rem. aka 5.56x45 nato, and 7.62x39 AK/SKS.

Just asking, since you came out of the blue with the picture.

The cartridge length of the .221 is 1.83" and the cartridge length of the 5.7x28mm is 1.59".

The .221 is usually loaded with a 40-50 gr. projectile and the 5.7 with a 28 gr or a .31 gr. if you ignore the subsonic 55 gr. The velocities will vary with the barrel length of the weapon. The .221 is more of a rifle round even though it began life in the Remington XP-100 bolt-action handgun. The 5.7 is has velocities of approximately 2100 fps out of the Five-seveN and 2400 fps out of the P90. I don't know the P90's barrel length, but the entire weapon is about 20 inches long. The .221 has better ballistics and is frequently the object of experimentation to extract the best performance, where the 5.7 seems to be content to fill the gap between 9x19mm and 5.56x45mm. I don't have a .221 laying around or would be happy to photograph them side by side.

I used to be ok at the old CS. I have a high vacuum factor at source. It's still fun though. The M249 is actually worth the money.

budda budda budda... aieeee! :D

CS 1.6 and steam are worth it. WC3 is AWESOME fun! Go to http://www.t3houston.com and look up their 5 server addresses and plug them into your favourite server list on Steam. I play there all the time.

If you see BinDrinkinFromTheBong[CAN] on a t3houston server, say hi because that's me!

Do you happen to have any experience with FMJ (milsurp) 7.62x25 ammo and its penetration abilities on body armor ? It is a slower round (1400 or so fps) compared to the "hot" SMG round but i do recall reading somewhere that many folks buy this cheap milsurp ammo across the big pond and that people have seen it go through class III (not IIIA) vest. I'm really curious if there is any truth in this - it is said to have better performance than 9x19 so at the former eastern block prices ... unless one hates the huge muzzle flash nothing would beat it in price/efficiency range ?

well, in japan you can get a license to own a gun if you are a farmer or a hunter.
They sell bolt action rifles, single shot, doubles, and i think pump shotguns too.

Airsoft guns are 100% accurate copies of real guns. Many are made of steel, weight the same, even have interchnagable parts with the real thing.
They are VERY realistic and can be as expensive or more so than the real deal.
Japanese people LOVE airsoft. (They love guns, and thats the truth)
But their govt wont allow them to own pistols or semiautos, so airsfot fills the gap.

it is Fabrique National (FN) Herstal, the town in belgium where the P90 and the pistol is made. The P90 is extensively used by a few CT units because it has virtually no muzzle climb in full auto and optical sights and it goes thru soft body armmour like cheese. U need ceramic inserts to stop the P90 ammo. The handgun was designed to take away the logistical probles of having to supply your troops with two types of ammo.

Performance is less with the handgun due to barrel lenght and has less stopping power then the 9X19 SMG round , but it is designed to be used against BG with soft body armour. It uses bullet tumbling ( like the AK74) to transfer it's energy in soft targets.

CS:S @ t3houston.com IP: 67.19.190.84:27011

Everything else seems to be Warcraft3. :^(
I may check it out though.
Doesn't your ping suffer playing on a Huston server?

Not sure about Philthy... but... (I think he's playing Warcraft 3)

I'm playing CS:source (Counterstrike Source). It's included as a "free" download with Half-Life 2. It's an online only game as far as I know.

I think you can still play Counterstrike 1.6 which is a free download with the original Half-Life.

Yep I'm kind of addicted to the CS1.6 wc3 game because I've put effort into getting my Night Elf built up.

My ping is good and I have a solid connection for some reason.

I didn't know about CS: Source. I may have to get Half-Life 2 now.

Come to think of it, I think I've seen listings for that mod on the server listings screen. Never gave it much thought though. I might have to check it out just because it's "free". :D

It was good and an enjoyable play. The graphics were very well done and the story was good. None of that Xen stuff like in the first HL. I probably would have got it just to play CS:S even if it sucked.

Barney Calhoun? I thought I left you to die in Black Mesa. :D

One thing though. It took a lot of system rescorces. My 1.4 giga popsicle machine didn't get good framerates at 1024 x 768 and made me nauseous. :( 800 x 600 was ok though.

I remember hearing about a "bug" in CS:Source that's part of the HL graphics engine. You can run Half-Life 2 (and therefore CS:Source) in "widescreen mode", which gives you a wider angle of view. I don't know if they fixed it, but if they haven't... maybe you wouldn't get knifed in the back so much. Now THAT's embarassing.
