fng... ordered my 1st busse [tg lb]... a "?" re- 'eta' on order...

You don't even have to use a Busse to appreciate it, (though I do recommend some abuse) they are great just to hold and fondle.
I love to lay in bed while every body is asleep and caress a Busse, warm the scales with my hand, drag my thumb over the edge.
I find it very relaxing, it helps me doze off...

Welcome to the forum, you have a few weeks to wait on the TG, thats plenty of time to pick up a few more on the exchange.
-Rick

thanks... hmmm, gotta say though - your method to relax/doze off sounds somewhat hazardous to one's health.... especially if one sleeps in bed with a chick/gf/wife... someone's bound to get stabbed/sliced eventually....

I don't know if you would be interested in this, but I saw a post here that said the TGLB could be ordered in competition finish(CF). From what I understood, it's like a bead blast finish, but not as refined as the double cut.

i would friggin' love a tglb with a competition finish if it could be made... i have no idea how the 'cf' actually fares in real life, hardcore usage but as far as pure looks go, the busse jackhammer is one of my favorite blades in the proportions/aesthetics dept. but i only dig it in the rough 'pockmarked' competition finish on the special edition models....in fact i don't much like the appearance of the 'double cut' finish at all personally...the latter one might get better looking with age/usage but as new, it looks like a coated blade to my eyes at least and i like steel to actually look like a tough, workhorse steel on a badass blade, that only gets 'prettier' with hard use and natural patina instead of having a coating slowly rub off....
but i'm sceptical as to your info, if anything a smoother satin finish on a tglb would make more practical sense to me, and as flux has mentioned elsewhere in this thread, even a satin finish is not an option on the lb most likely .... i might very well be wrong of course and perhaps one could get the tglb in 'cf' via busses' custom shop for a premium price... could you paste the link to that post here?... i'm interested for sure...
thanks....

Looks like you got most of your questions answered and more, so let me just say: Welcome to Bladeforums :)

indeed, and the response is quick from multiple people so it looks like a friendly bunch here hehe...
thanks....

actually, i still need to see the 'ganza' in action when one happens to fully get my head around the exact process of ordering/pricing in the apparent brief time it takes place but it seems that the only way to fully understand this happening is to see it in real time as it commences....
yesterday, i paid for a platinum-ship on bladeforums so i guess it takes a while between the actual payment and actually having the status upgraded here, as i'm still unable to access certain profile edit options...

This is a good bunch. I'm going to Blade this summer just for these people here.

There's no Ganza planned right now. If it happens, the next one should be soon. Spring Knoboganza 2012, with leftovers (if any) from the Knob Creek show which was just recently. Other than that, no plans...

Also, you have to update your displayed membership level yourself.

Hey did you pay for a membership but can't figure out why your name didn't turn a different color?

Click on Settings (top right) -> Permissions Groups and update your group display

I ordered mine on 02/22/2012 and my credit card got charged a couple days ago, so I'll probably have the knives within a week. I suspect you can expect a shorter wait time.

ah so... very helpful, thanks... otherwise i'd be waiting forever for my status update hehe....
i'll keep my eyeball on any 'ganza' notices here but purely for educational purposes for now... can't be buying any more expensive blades for a while...

that's quite a bit of waiting time and i do hope mine shall be somewhat shorter if not significantly.... i suck at managing my meager finances, and have crappy memory, so until my card gets actually charged - prior to imminent ship-out date - for the tglb, i gotta keep in mind that upcoming $400 charge constantly lest i'll screw up and not leave enough overhead on my card's limit hehe.....

If you are interested in the TG with the competition finish, then best to call the Shop and talk to the nice ladies.

aye, wish i knew that one could just call up the custom shop directly before.... good suggestion but it's now most likely too late to alter my 'standard' tglb order, even if i could get one done in cf for a premium fee... i'll try regardless as soon as i'm awake tomorrow....

Someone said that double cut knives are satin finished before the bead blasting. I doubt this, because satin finishes are more expensive despite having one step less than double cut finishes... but they definitely do some polishing to get rid of those dimples.

By the way, I asked about satin or double cut Team Gemini Light Brigades. They told me it's not possible, but they could certainly give one a Competition Finish if I wanted.

If you like the satin finish, you might want to check out the SARGE 7 available at the Busse Combat Company Store. They have several different colors of G10 handles in stock. I ordered one with the black G10 and I got it in about a week.

Welcome to the forum's! Another point about Ganza's.................... It allow's you to score on "Limited Edition's", in most cases, at a cheaper price than the exchange prices. One can expect to pay 25 to 50 dollar's more, if you miss the Ganza and have to buy on the exchange. The Ganza's are fun to participate in. The last Ganza was for the "Magnum Bear Cub" which sold out rather quickly. Luckily, for those that missed out, The Bear Cub was not a "Limited Edition" and more will be made at a later date. Here are a couple Ganza Offering's to give you a idea. First up is the Magnum Bear Cub, that was the most recent Ganza. The Basic 4 was a Limited Edition Run and is no longer available. You mentioned the RMD/LE. Here is the one I used to own. It was a Limited Run from SwampRat and is no longer available except by Custom Shop Order, or the exchange. You will enjoy it here!

YESSSSSSSSSS!!!.... i just spoke with lexi and indeed, not only is it possible to order the tglb in 'cf' but it's also sans extra charge... i was able to still alter my order and now i have a competition finish tglb coming to me... btw, i get now all the swooning and ooh/aaahs over the busse girls hehe... lexi was a true doll and a darlin' to me over the phone...

thanks lexi, if you'll ever read this...

also, thanks 'gusbuster' and 'resinguy' for your heads-up and suggestions...

not being familiar with the way busse operates, i've just assumed that once i've placed my order i've become just another paying d*ckhead and no altering of order is possible.... well, ya'll know the formula for 'ass-u-me' i'm sure so there ya go....

if i was an active operator in some spec-op outfit, requiring max stealth from my eqpmt, i'd quite likely be into all these space-age coating of blades, etc, which have become so prevalent as of some time ago... nearly or virtually standard in fact on certain 'real' knife makers' product... but i'm not and i enjoy the inherent beauty of steel as it is so i'm really not into any coatings....don't need to worry about reflections, et al... i figured it'll be my first busse infi blade so wth, i'll get it coated as it is offered but i wasn't as happy about that order as i am now, knowing that i'll now have a kickass blade sans coating and in fact in my preferred 'rough' competition finish that'll be factory spec...
f#ckin' a, i'm stoked!!....

thanks man.... i found that 'alternative' busse store/site a couple of weeks ago through a voracious, accelerated read of threads/posts here.... and i did in fact consider the possibility of getting the sarge 7 [in blk g10 - i'm mostly all about od green or black when it comes to handles] instead of the new tg but somehow the sarge 7 proportions just don't click with me 100%... i'm weird like that hehe... if the blades' lines [or lines/vibes on anything within my scope of interest] just don't flow right and create some tiny subconcious nirvana within me when i look at it/handle it, i don't care how well the particular product is regarded, i won't get it.... hence my affinity for srkw rmd le and busse jackhammer, sf natural outlaw, sj tac and the old style [straight handle/slight drop point] battle mistress.... and a couple of other blades that particularly resonate within my subconcious simply through their shape/flow/vibe...whatever hehe.... the tg/tglb shape, despite having those quillions/guards bemoaned by some here as detrimental to the blades' function [i disagree for the most part although the dudes who raise that point actually...have a valid one], just flows for me the right way and so it won over the sarge 7....

thanks for another welcome... i appreciate all the response from many here to my inquiries and intro... i'm quickly gaining some practical knowledge here thanks to ya people...
actually, i watched your rmd le previously - along with a few other rmd le blades f/s here and on other couple of forums - and considered posting 'i take it'... but really wanted a busse infi steel first as it started to become a small obsession of mine... likely it'll not be satiated either and woe to my budget as a result hehe....
hell, if i had a couple of grand to spare right now, i'd go geronimo on my credit card and get at least 5 other blades, mostly busse infi, but an rmd le would certainly be at the top of it as well... i just really dig its aesthetics, lines and proportions...and that slightly 'twisty' pattern of blk scales just makes me want to grab the bastard and use away... the fact that my hands no longer work notwithstanding haha...

i'll definitely be buying an rmd le before the year is out, and quite likely much sooner....

:thumbup:Alright, I'm glad we could help out, and you got the one you wanted. Please post some pics when you get it.

I have no idea what real operators are choosing as their blade coatings, and I certainly don't believe any claims/hype that any manufacturere may make. Busse makes special knives for various military teams, and will generally not breath a word of it. I like that.
