Folder or Fixed?

Do you consider yourself to be primarily a folder guy or a fixed guy (no jokes please :D)?

For some reason, I love fixed blade knives. Not sure what it is. Perhaps it's their simplicity of no moving parts or their reassuring strength. I've never really been into folding knives, although there are many nice ones out there. I've owned folders and sold them. I tend to buy expensive fixed blades (Chris Reeve, Fallkniven, etc.) and pair them with an inexpensive SAK. If I do carry just a folding knife, it's one of my SAKs.

I like the idea of fixed blades but folders are just so much more convenient.

Just stick it in the pockie and go!

Fixed blades are great. However, most of us can't get away with carying one day to day.

I am a folder gal. But, I DO like fixed blades, and own some. I even have some pocketable fixed blades. But, I usually carry folders. I was for awhile carrying a pocket fixed blade and a folder. I no longer carry a pocker fixed blade, at least at this point and time.

As already stated, folders are more convenient, but love my fixed blades as well.

I'm pretty much 50/50. I like both depending on the application.

Fixed blades for me, although I am currently in the midst of a torrent love affair with my Calypso3.:D

Little bit of both. Always carry a Tinker and then will pair it with a fixed blade for 3-6 weeks or rotate through a bunch of fun folders.

Also both but as I don't get into the "outdoors" nearly enough and I usually carry a folder. (It is a full size Rukus so its almost like a fixed) :D

That depends of the situation, for every day tasks a folder will do the trick, but for survival or hunting then a fixed blade becomes the choice.

What he said. I'll always have a folder on me for nothing out of the ordinary tasks. If I happen to go camping, hiking, or backpacking I'll bring both a folder and a fixed. I'd say I prefer a nice folder over a fixed just for the ability to throw it in my pocket and go; the convenience is great.

Folders or Fixed?

Yes.

I recently have gotten deep into fixed blades and smaller fixed blades (have a BK11 and have a RC Izula on the way) and i Usually carry both a fixed and a folder. Folders generally are more convenient. I've heard once you EDC an Izula, its real hard to go back to folders. We'll see.

I carry a folder for EDC and have several, but lately I have become a fixed blade fan. I'm selling off a few of my folders and buying fixed blades and may start EDCing a small fixed blade.

I always carry a fixed blade (Busse BATAC). Sometimes a folder, too (Kershaw Shallot). I don't have to tuck my shirts in, so I can cover that BATAC pretty easily.
