Alright. I haven't carried a folding knife for some decade, as my preference has been fixed blades.

My boss has expressed dislike for my drawing of fixed blade everytime time I need to cut some tape.

With that said, I figured I should get the best info from the most prolific knife forum.

This is what I'm looking for:

Folding knife, under 200.00. I've never used a flipper, but I'm willing to try. No OTF or assisted. Blade of 3 inches or so. Quality stainless of VG-10 or better. (I really like 440c, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside) No serrations. Given that it's a knife, I'd like it able to serve in a defensive role in the dire extreme, in addition to the utility tasks I require.

To be honest, I'm considering a Spyderco Delica (perhaps with the wave), but I'd really like something with a tad bit more flair.

Thanks for your time.

Viper Ten (n690) is a sweet little flipper with smooth action, dignified look, and a little flair.

Lionsteel sr2a (sleipner) is another snazzy option.

Both Italian made.

Look at the Emerson CQC-7. I see that you are kind of interested in something waved so you might as well go straight to the source.
The 7 is a great knife that is 100% made in America. The chisel grind is top notch that cuts with the best of them and is designed to be easily sharpened whether in the field or the boardroom. The size is non-threatening to people and still big enough to handle most cutting chores. And then you have the wave feature, I can not praise this feature enough. The wave feature allows the blade to be deployed pretty darn fast for any self defense scenarios.

I just got a Viper Fortis carbon fiber.
It is really a lot of Knife at $200 I've had three CRK carbon fiber Sebenzas and this knife is 90% of one of those.
Its Mid Tech quality and if someone had handed it to me and told me it was twice the price I wouldnt have questioned it

zt 0450 would look sharp in an office setting and for $160 is a decent bargain for what you get imo. One downside would be it is a flipper and it flat out flies open when you flip it, the blade is also 3.25". BM 485 Velvet Axis is another great looking knife for about $170 and the blade on that one is basically right at 3" (2.96"), plus you get the "super duper ultra premium superman high end OMG THIS STUFF IS GREAT" M390 steel. The HUGE benefit of the 485 is you get all the benefits of the Axis lock with manual opening and a very sleek looking thumb screw.

For $200, you can get a good pair of knives.

1. I'd suggest a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife (SAK) for the office. Very sheeple friendly and should keep the boss happy. Get one with scissors, they come in very handy. My personal favorite is the explorer and runs $50 or less.

2. ZT 350 or 566. Spyderco Paramilitary 2 or Manix 2.

If you like the delica, maybe check out the spyderco native. Comes in frn or g10 handles. Quality steel, slightly larger than a delica.

Suggestions by others are fine. But better recommendations are here :D

- Spyderco military 204p green g10 knifeworks exclusive, ~200 dollars
- Benchmade 710-1401 knifeworks exclusive, ~180 dollars
- ZT 0909, ~180 dollars
- Cold Steel Recon 1, ~100 dollars

Sell it to me if you dont like.

Isn't every single blade you listed 4" abouts or greater?

Not going to put a guarantee on on it, but if you had the exact same knife as a folder instead of a fixed blade, in an office setting it probably wouldn't draw any attention at all. Big difference in public perception in my experience in regards to unsheathing a knife vs taking one out of your pocket.

Emerson cqc 15 or jorneyman
Spyderco paramilitary 2
These might be a little bigger but they dont take up alot of pocket space if you have to have smaller you can get the mini cqc 15 and or the paramilitary 3 but honestly i like the full size for edc and as a defensive tool. This is what i carry when i cant edc my fixed blades. I love the wave feature the delica your looking at are good knives i just prefer the emersons blade shape and profiles. Once you get a cqc 15 for work you wont look back. It pierces great and the slight recurve of the belly is a cutting machine.

W.: This is what I find myself doing. A SAK (cadet in pocket, classic on key ring) is all I have ever needed, working in a small office. You could add a good folder and not go over budget.

Spyderco Domino or Sage 1, 3 or 5.You can find Them for under $200.00 All beautiful also Caly 3 or 3.5 Carbon Fiber. There are so many for under $200.00 You can also go to Blade HQ Or any of the big guys and put in your parameters. There will be alot of choices but for a classy low key knife Spyderco rocks.

I would suggest the Buck Alpha Hunter 277 154 CM with BOS Heat Treat. Butter smooth opening with liner lock. I carried one for ten years with zero problems. The frame is strong way past anything I have seen. It is heavy but it is worth carrying the weight. Best folder I have ever owned.

I think the two (or even three) knife option is a very valid idea.

For $200, you could do a nice combo to fit a variety of situations:
- Kershaw Leek for "office friendly" tasks
- Spyderco Manix 2 for working back in the warehouse
- Small SAK of some flavor to pair with either on a daily basis

This is what I do (sorta - substitute the SAK with a Leatherman Squirt that lives in my pocket). Shop around, and you could get all three for $200 (+/- $10). Or a similar set of two or three that match your more preferred knife styles.
