Haven't shopped or bought anything in a good while. I'm looking for something with a blade 4 inches or close to it in the $150ish range. What's out there in that category that has a good reputation?

Hogue EX03 4" , ~160ish. Button Lock with Aluminum Frame.
The 03 uses a polymer frame, it's very nice and not plasticky at all, but the 01 has the aluminum or G10 frame.

Geat suggestion, though. Hogue makes great blades and the button lock is a lot of fun and very easy to use.

You're right! the whole 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 designation makes it trickier for me than the number salad ZT has even if it shouldn't :D , I am hankering for a Button Lock myself, so I have been looking at them. EX05 either 4" Spearpoint or the Weirdo Wharnie, or a Spartan Blades Pallas. The Hogue Spearpoint looks nice, the Wharnie is more interesting the Pallas seems to be most EDC-able and simple.

Oh, man, if you're digging the Pallas, I HIGHLY recommend the Freeman 451 BLF. It's one of my favorite folders of all time.

I generally like axis type or liner locks, but I'm not overly picky.

The Benchmade 15080-1 Crooked River seems to fit the bill as far as blade length and lock type go. It is slightly over you budget though at 190$ but well worth it if you can afford the extra cash.
