Folder

I'm about to commit sacrilege, so don't crucify me....

I don't know if i think that INFI is the best suited steel for a folder.

The toughess of INFI may not be fully utilized, since the weak spot in an INFI folder would be the handle and studs, not the blade.

I WANT an INFI folder, but i don't think it's going to perform substantially better than a CPM154 blade as a FOLDER.

Okay, you can shoot me now

There's lots of good folders out there. I'm partial to Chris Reeve myself on the higher end. If I could get one without the insane secondary markups, I'd love to try out an XM18 or 24. In the mean time, it would be an ZT 560.

All that being said, $ for $, all things considered, Emerson's most suit my needs. I've been carrying them for about decade now and they've done everything I've asked of them. From blade steel to grippy G10 handles, they are real world 'users.' The MiniCommander and the Horseman are my favorites. There are more and less expensive knives to be had, some very good, some not so much. But in terms of real world performance for the $$, I've been very satisfied.

Emerson ^ or Spyderco will fit the bill, too.
Ummmmm... How many rope cuts did an INFI knife make and could still shave hair? An INFI folder will be Le Bom.

I would have never guessed you was Hinderer fan!:p ZT0560 is a beast and would cut a engine block in half if given the chance!:D

Hmmm... I could make a CG Fusion Battle Folder (CGFBF) out of my CGFBM.

Pocket clip optional.

LOL ... wish I saved pic's ... not only is there some great fun ones of a CGFBM with a hinge ... there are also some great pic's of custom folders done from a BATAC blade IIRC ...

One HOG got tired of waiting and had a great folder made ... infact there were two made from the one "doner" ...

Someone will have the pic's ...

Love my ZTs, 0301, 0200, 0350> Like Tanks, not too terribly expensive if you get them off that site which will remain nameless. These are all I carry with an occasional Benchmade 5000 auto.

Still waiting for my INFI that folds but in the mean time, my current favorite EDC folder is the 3" XM-18.

I have been carrying a Grayman Satu with black G10 for a couple of years and I am happy with it. It is robust and has a 4" blade of CPM S30V. However, I do have a custom Andrew Demko 4MAX in Elmax steel on order, but it takes approx. 1 year to get it.:( He invented the Triad lock for Cold Steel.

My Satu is a 1 of 50 first run of the black DLC w/ carbon fiber scale. It's a hoss, but the recurve blade shape is not my first choice in users, especially for my EDCs.

I would be hard pressed to go past a ZT301 or 350 if I could only own a single folder. That said my Emerson A100 would also be way up there as well.

What's your spending window?

...Before I recommend something like...

A good folder is such a useful knife that you might as well treat yourself to what you think is the best for you .... I like this one ... a titanium frame lock with a damasteel blade by Mike Lamprey ... he only made a few of these and the blade opening action is the smoothest I have ever used ...

If you're looking for a folder under $500.00, you can't go wrong with Zero Tolerance. I love my 0200, 0301, 0350, and 0560. Since it was first introduced, my favorite folder has been the Hinderer XM-24. It took me 6 months and a lot of trading to get one.Unless you go to a show, good luck getting one for less than $800.00. I should have said had been. At the Blade Show in June, I picked up a Todd Begg Bodega. The only one made in coyote tan. I really like this knife, but the tan wasn't my first choice. So I ordered one in Carbon Fiber. It arrived Monday and I can't put it down. Once the newness wears off, I might be able to better compare it to the Hinderer. Also, if I can find some red and black g10 scales for the Hinderer, I might lean toward it. RJ Martin also makes a very nice folder. Its just that the Hinderer and the Begg are beasts.

Here's a shot of the Begg and the RJ Martin with a DA Volcan.

Just for good measure and since this is the Busse Forum, here are my custom Infi Skirmishes again.

I must say that the Strider folder is one of the BEST folder designs ever. The nut and bolt construction and the two piece handle design are nuc proof. I just sold my SnG and do regret it.
