Folder

lol! I meant Alex, aka, Jaxx. lol!

Yes...yes I do! ;) :D

David Mosier makes some really good folders and they only get better. That one is a fancy version of his persian model, but these are more "user friendly":

This one is tiny, but a great little companion folder.

I like ZTs, because I have one and it works for me. I like the matte feel of the G10 handles of my 0350. I've 'batonned' through small branches with this just fine. The cpms30v holds a nice fine edge, is reasonably tough (A friend chopped into my asphalt roof with it, and it only took three strokes on a stone to even out the edge roll) Also pretty rust resistant, I kept it in my swimming shorts this summer and it was damp in salt water for most of the week. This just left some light spotting on the blade.

However, I'm sure many of the other folders mentioned would manage many of these things

if you want INFI like performance i suggest ELMAX, 3V or M4 for the blade steel

i like ELMAX as it rolls unless you hit bone or rock with it pretty hard and even then its super easy to sharpen out the super small chips.

the ZT560/561 use ELMAX, the spyderco tough uses 3V, and the spyderco gayle bradley uses M4, i prefer my ZT560 over all.

I'm about to commit sacrilege, so don't crucify me....

I don't know if i think that INFI is the best suited steel for a folder.

The toughess of INFI may not be fully utilized, since the weak spot in an INFI folder would be the handle and studs, not the blade.

I WANT an INFI folder, but i don't think it's going to perform substantially better than a CPM154 blade as a FOLDER.

Okay, you can shoot me now

I had always said that I would rather have a folder made out of one of the nifty CPM steels, as supreme edge holding is more important than toughness in a folder. S30v is tough enough to baton with, its not rubbish.

BUT that was before I had tried out an ASYM edge. So after a week of batoning and chopping for fires, and de-limbing some trees just for fun, AND letting my 10-year old brother do some chopping (digging would be more accurate)..... it still shaves hair. It is still so sharp that it will not only slice paper but will easily change directions in the slice in zig zags through the paper without tearing it. This is using the whole length of the edge.

And I haven't sharepened it once.

I'm starting to think I'd like an INFI folder with an ASYM edge

Lycosa, not sure if you wanted pics from me, or if you thought I might have an INFI folder already?? Reading through what I wrote, it was a bit ambiguous. I was referring to my BM.

Here's a pic of the paper cutting

So many great options out there to compliment your Busse!

You're Golden with Spyderco, and of course, I appreciate my Sebenza that I've carried for three years straight.

It's a good market to be a buyer - there are plenty of great options at all price points from Spyderco, Chris Reeve, Emerson, and Kershaw/ZT.

For an EDC, I love the Spyderco Para 2 in any flavor. For something a bit more beefier, the Grayman Satu.
