Folders that excel at cutting

The spyderco FFG delica is known to be a pretty good slicer because it's so thin but I took it down to an 18 degree inclusive edge (approximate, calculated with some trigonometry), sharpened and stropped to a mirror finish and it's the most amazing slicer I own. Also, because the VG10 resists chipping so well while being able to maintain a good edge for a decent amount of time I find that it's more than usable for day to day chores and the edge is also so easy to restore :)

I don't know, a couple of years back I was in love with spyderco... Until I started using them.
Please Don't get wrong they are great looking and for certain jobs... That suppose a 1% of my actual cutting needs and even on those a fixed blade would be better (no moving parts).
I still love to play with the modern folders and flick them open but I came back to traditionals:
Take a look and judge for yourself:

No harm intended to anyone's feelings. It's just what's happened to me.

That's kind of my realization as well, all though I would like a modern looking version of a traditional :D ... if that makes any sense! I haven't really found any reliable information as to how thick the majority of traditionals are, are they around 0.05-0.1"? I have a digital caliper but nothing to measure except my tiny tiny SAK which measures in at 0.04".

You live in Sweden. Then y not take a look at the domestic market? ;)

For example:
  • EKA 597 Camp
  • EKA Executive Sportsman
  • EKA Executive President
  • EKA Swede 86
  • EKA Swede 88
  • EKA Nordic T8
They all come with a blade lock except for the 86. There is also plenty of EKA slipjoints that will fit the bill. And then there is a number of nice Fällkniven folders ;).

I get kind of lost with less than an inch measurements, but most of my traditionals are around 1.5 millimeters.
If they are larger than 4" closed then around 2 mm

I think pialia is referring to behind the edge measurements. Not spine thickness.

Being a Finnish citicen and after reading this thread, I will take a long hard look at the new Spyderco "Nilakka". Finnish puukko's are usually good at slicing and if this knife lives up to the expectations, it should be terrific slicer.

Here you go. This is Ankerson's 20CP para that has been reground.

It's .009".

The thumbhole didn't get reground, so looking at that won't help much. :p

Funny enough that is very close to what I've heard some new folders measure at the edge bevel. Unless it's a big chopper, it's ridiculous.

Aesthetically the Swede 92 really appeals to me and it looks like it has a nice blade profile if you grind down the shoulders a tad, but I would like it with an even thinner blade - it's measured at 2.8mm according to Eka's homepage. None of the previously mentioned EKAs really tickle my fancy.

Do you know if I'd have any luck acquiring it with the wood scales? I've only seen it with the synthetic stuff.
