okay so now that the whole work knife thing is out of the way completely i just need a edc for your every day everydays. Cutting string, opening up all that new shiney stuff i buy at walmart cutting plastic tags off of stuff, you know the every day random stuff, nothing hard use just use.

I would like to spend no more then 90$ on the knife (shipping not included thats no biggie)

For those of you wondering what i ended up getting for my work knife i posted a thread on that, and what i paid was nothing, the girl i work with gave it to me for nothin (she took it off the shelves and gave me it, was just like the 1 i used to prep in the back, she says there only like 8 bucks anyway witch is all i needed, razor sharp very thin blade, fixed blade good grip and a very slim sheath)

any brands are welcome but i least favor spyderco but ill consider them still(iv only had cheap 1s but they all seem so generic looking to me anymore after seeing them, everyone has them and uses them) and im prob just gonna get this 1 decent quality knife for a edc and have it forever, since it wont get alot of use itll last for a damn long time.

When i get suggestions i like ill update this post with a list of what im considering.
Most desired qualities
Smaller is better for edc, but not too small cause i got big hands (im 6'3)
Weight is not a huge deal alsong as it doesnt feel like a brick in my pocket.

Consideration list *subject to change*

Benchmade Mini Griptillian
Kershaw Blur
Spyderco Manix 2
Spyderco Native

Honestly, probably anything you can list will work fine for what you want. No knife is gonna do the job SOO much better than another knife. Just find something you like, order it and use it.

I predict that after you buy your knife, within a week you'll be thinking about your next purchase. :)

You leave room for pretty much countless options. Are there any steels you prefer? Edge (plain, combo, serrated, etc.)? Scale material? Blade length?

$90 can buy most EDCs from most manufacturers.

plain edge scale material anything but stainless (too damn slippery)blade length id say 3- 3.75 (seems like a decent edc size)

I suggest you support blade forums and get an s30v skyline

i would but i dont like the skyline, too generic everyone has them

The SOG mini elite is a good looking knife and very good quality, or the mini Vulcan. Also, I think there slim jim is coming out quite soon and that is a VERY unique knife. Just my two sense, im pretty biased towards SOG fir edc, or spyderco.

will look at it a little bit

Edit: interesting locking mechanism, how exactly does it work? and post pictures of yours if you have any if you have it?
I don't own it...yet:p I have played with it though. The lock similar to the Axis lock but instead of wedging a bar behind the blade tang it wedges a hardened ball bearing between the blade tang and the backspacer.

:EDIT: Here's a pic

ah i see, does it lock up secure with no play or anything? (ik the play dont matter if im not hard use but blade play just pisses me off for some reason)

Are you familiar with the saying poop or get off the pot?. Just pick something already, the more you ask the more indecisive you will become.
Pick a brand
Look at the specs of the knife
Find something you like, search the forums for reviews or commentary, look for youtube videos of the knife
Order the knife
Rejoice!
:D

hell yea lol, seems like great value ima add it to my list. Kershaw has always been my favorite brand ever since i got my gf a half ton (such a bad ass hard user blade for 12 bucks)

Then you should also check out the composite JYD 2 and the composite Rake. 2 of my favorite current Kershaws. Lots of exciting stuff on the way from them though.

Look at the Spyderco Sage. Can be found for under $100 and fits the bill.

kk i def will check it out
does it come in any other grinds besides ffg? im not a fan of ffg (no real reason i just like being able to see the grind in a hollow grind or a sabre and such)

i added the manix 2 and the native (the native seems to have alot of higher qualities for a lower price so thats always a consideration)

It's soley a full flat grind. Believe it or not, it slices much better than a regular saber grind. If you are a stickler for fit and finish aka quality, this will satisfy your requirements. The blades are all centered and they are sharp! Plus the carbon fiber is very classy and offers moderate grip. I'm sure you'd like it.

The Manix2 is an awesome knife as well. I've only had a couple with issues (mostly cosmetic) in the grinds were off, or the blade not being near center. The lock has been great on the CTS-XHP version I use. The Native is another really great knife. It's hard to pick, but once you get something, you can plan your next purchase.

You sound really young. Know what? When I was really young, I spent a lot of money on "cool" knives thinking they would make me cool.

Guess what? They didn't. There isn't a thing you can buy that will make you cool. Not even that hot car. Stuff is just stuff.

Don't worry too much about being cool, either. In fact, the less you worry about it, the more cool you are.
