Folding knife ”proper use”

If you break the knife, you know you weren't using it properly.
The knife will tell you when you screwed up. ;)
 
I ordered a Hinderer XM-18 3.5” to be my EDC. I consider it to be a ”heavy duty” folder.

Just out of curiosity, if you consider it a "heavy duty" folder, what uses do you consider heavy duty?

I guess I wonder how you developed an idea of what a heavy duty folder is or is (or isn't) capable of.

I'm not trying to be derogatory, I just wonder if that phrase is something you picked up through marketing materials for "heavy duty" knives? It's a common phenomenon..."heavy duty," "bushcraft," "survival," "supersteel," etc etc, and folks pick that stuff up as an "entry point" to knives.
