Folding, Lockback Pocket Knife

It has been awhile since I've visited here and am looking for a better pocket knife. What I have in mind is a single blade folding knife that locks open, can be opened with one hand.....blade length 2 3/4 - 3" or so and well made.

Some time ago, I read a bumper sticker that echoes my values ; "when you buy quality, you only cry once." While my resources are finite, I'd like to get a decent knife.

Any suggestions and comments are appreciated.

Regards, Vic

**EDIT** - sorry, just noticed that TraderVic specified lock-back only.

There are an infinite amount of knives that fit that description. Is a lock back lock literally the only type of lock you will consider or is any lock ok? Have any more criteria to possibly narrow things down?

You may want to buy one of the first few suggestions that are made and be happy. Or you can easily start researching knives and mercy thing you know it's a year later, you have 30+ knives, a knife as your desktop background, and BladeForums as your home page.

Chaparral, followed by the Chaparral, followed again by the Chaparral. Maybe I make that overly stressed but it's one of my absolute favorite knives.

I'd have to say that the full flat grind Delica in VG-10 is probably one of the finer EDCs out there.

I'm not a Spyderco guy at all, but the combination of materials and craftsmanship in that piece is hard to deny.

Get the Zome Green one.

I really like the Spyderco Native G10 or the fluted titanium for a bit more flash. If you want something less common, the Fantoni Hide.

Cold Steel American Lawman CTS XHP. Triad lock (stronger than any lock back, or locks for that matter) although you have to unlock it with your thumb joint or it might hurt if you use your tip.

buck 112 ranger? no thumb stud, but i could open mine one handed. i miss that knife. i lost it years ago...

If a Spyderco Native 5 is within the budget, I think it would be worth considering. Extremely nice back lock, great ergonomics as the handle is little thicker than the Delica or Endura with just the right level of grip to the G10. It is easy to open even with gloves on, well made, good steel, size is right and locks up very solid with no play. Has a choil so you can choke up on it a bit, feels bigger than it is. Geez, I`m getting excited about it and I already own one, maybe I will carry that tomorrow :-)

Benchmade North fork, mini presidio, mini griptilian, or H&K mini axis
Spyderco chapparel, Delica, native5
Cold Steel mini recon or lawman (cts-xhp)
Lionsteel opera (no clip)

Pick your poison, all will do you justice I'm sure.

If you are into a traditional type, GEC has just released a batch of model 72 Cody Scout knives with a lock back.

Spyderco Delica 4. I like the saber grounds but a lot prefer the FFG. Either is great IMO.

Either the Spyderco Delica or Native would be my choices. Hard to beat these knives in the size your looking at with lock backs.
