Agree with the dozens of Delica recommendations for versatility . . . but if you're looking for minimal pocket presence, lockback and EXTREMELY well made, then consider an Al Mar Hawk at the size ranges you mention. If you want a clip, bump up to the Falcon. Superb knives.

The Spyderco Delica would be a great choice. I carry one nearly everyday. My second choice is a bit smaller. That would be a Spyderco Chaparral. If you can find one (currently discountinued) get a Spyderco Caly3 (but they are expensive). The Delica is the most knife for the money. The Salt 1 version with a serrated edge would be a good choice, too.
