I’m sure he’d be in a much better place in life if someone told him about a Sebenza. Imagine how much happier he’d be if he only had a grail to pursue. He said he was doing fine, but it didn't seem like it so much.
His blade of choice? You guessed correctly...a folding utility knife.

This is the weirdest post I’ve ever seen here on Bladeforums, and I’ve frequented Whine & Cheese.
What is the advantage of a folding utility knife? Why not just use the ones with a one-piece handle with a blade that slides out (Stanley)? Can someone explain?
I think the one-piece design would be much sturdier and easier to use.

As far as why use one at all. What do you use if you need to cut a tin can? Deburr stainless steel? What is the advantage of a folding utility knife? Why not just use the ones with a one-piece handle with a blade that slides out (Stanley)? Can someone explain?

The pocket clip.
Well, 'cause you want some cool factor.
If that is all, then give me the one-piece handle, all day, every day. If I am using a utility knife, I just want something dead simple that works.
When I was younger, I used to inspect and cut fabric for custom orders at the headquarters of Calico Corners, a custom fabric distributor. Did it for 4 years, cut SO much fabric on a table rolling/measuring machine. Everyone used Fiskars or Gingher scissors, except me. I used a Stanley utility knife just like yours, and it worked very well, was faster than scissors, and easier on the hands. I tried using regular knives, and there was no comparison, the utility knives were far better. What is the advantage of a folding utility knife? > Come across a homeless guy in a box
> Ask him what knife he uses
Seems like a classic bladeforums post to me![]()
