The fellows are much mellower at the Traditional Forums, I lurk there but don't post. Too folksy.
Guilty as charged. ;)

FOLKSY -
adjective
having the characteristics of traditional culture and customs.
• (of a person) informal and unpretentious.

Yeah, I saw that too.
I understand why the guy feels that way.
Still, he would be welcome to post here more often.
Even if he has too many tattoos to be folksy, he knows a lot about knives.

:D

I saw that last night, Rob, and took it in the pejorative sense, but then I considered the source. ;)

Some folks forget that some of us "folksy" folks used to moderate the Custom Forum before we handed it off to the current able administrators of that forum.

C'est la vie.

Yeppers...folksy. Guess I better kick the dog off the Lazy Boy and grab a quart canning jar full of ice tea soes I can watch Andy, Barnie, Otis and the rest of the gang at Mayberry. Might scratch myself first though.

Yup, that is what we are and I have a lot of respect for the source.

(and I love it, since that is the way I have always seen knife folks through my rose colored glasses :D).

Blues..... your always making me use the dictionary:confused:

pe·jo·ra·tive
–adjective 1. having a disparaging, derogatory, or belittling effect or force: the pejorative affix -ling in princeling.
–noun 2. a pejorative form or word, as poetaster.

Does that make me "folksy";) :D

With you moderating here I'm improving my vocabulary!!!!

I didn't know what that meant until I heard it on the news today :o .

Well, it seems I stand corrected. Umbrage recanted.
(Guess I shouldn't be so quick on the draw. Old habits die hard.)

(Sorry for the wording, fellas, just don't want to come across as some kinda hayseed, or too folksy or anything. ;) )

Since we're all so traditional, I'm sure everyone remembers the tune to the opening song of "The Beverly Hillbillys."

Hum along now won'tcha...

Come and listen to my story `bout a mod name Blues,
Cool mountain man, even chooses to wear shoes,
And then one day he was shootin' at some flames,
and up from not around comes someone callin' names...

Folksy that is, mellow gold, heritage tea...

I for one, am proud of the company I keep here. I saw that comment in GB&U earlier also, and initially had a mildly negative reaction. Then I decided that there was, imho, no malintent. Still it does point to the risk of misunderstanding evolving out of flaming discussions. I'm glad the thread was moved. The noise of it might interfere with my Nick at Nite. :D

The statement did not even bother me at all not even a tiny bit.

It was true and that is the way I imagine most of us want things to stay here.

Guess what. STeven sent me an old Camilus knife in great shape to pass on to someone. Just got it yesterday. It is a very folksy knife. :D.

Blues already got my "attaboy" for moving that thread this morning. Both of us are deeply committed to the atmosphere that exists here.

(takes a deep breath) Ahhh yes...the air is very clean here. Cedar shavings and pipe tobacco if I'm not mistaken. :D

I'm Folksy?? Some people are gonna die laughing about that one!
Greg

Yup, Greg, my initial reaction as well.

Then again, I do originate from the South. South Brooklyn!!! :p

(Not a one of the "folks" I know would come up with that description as their one word defintion of my persona.)

(Alright kids, hide your eyes, and Gus, delete this next bit out if it's a tad too adult content but I just couldn't resist such an opening).

I think I may have to change my sig to:

Folk me? No, no, folk you!

(Seriously though, anyone offended by the above let me know and I'll come back and edit it out.)

What the folk's going on here??? I am really, really offended!!!!!

not!

Charlie,

Dunno. I was gonna say if the shoe fits, but then I remembered, we ain't got no shoes!!! :p
