Food Prep Folders? - let's see 'em !

Brian, You might want to flip your camp wind screen upside down so the holes are at the base. Even in a strong wind they would block enough so your fire does'nt go out, yet the fire will get more O2 and burn less smokey. Nice piece of Ti that MSR eh!

Nice set of knifeware too, I have the BM FB too in the combo blade. It makes short work of most camp chores IME.

So far my best food prep tool is a nº8 Opinel with Carbon steel blade... I rust if left unnatended but you just have to end up your food prep cutting some greasy stuff and don't whipping it off... lol. Chese and stuff like that does wonders. And if it get's lost I can get another one for a few euros!

I have to agree with Mikel 24, only I use the opinel #12.

What kind of knife is that in both Brians and Longbows pic's?
first from left in brians pic, and 2'nd from top in Longbows post... '
I really like the design! :)

Wow! That is a big one... I was thinking about getting one of those to keep it in my camper (California Syncro) for food prep. I guess it has the right size for using it as a kitchen knife... but fits in the drawers!

A.G.Russell's Honcho is actually a fine cooking knife that happens to fold. Picked one up a few years ago and love it.

This is my dedicated lime cutting, beer opening knife.

Hey Mike, what is that knife? Looks kind of like a Svord Peasant Knife but with a bottle opener built into the tang. I likes it a lot!

Svord Peasant Knife is the 5th one up from the bottom of this page if anyone wants to see what I'm talking about:

Ilbruche: Thank's :)

Mikel 24: It's about the same size as a "normal" fixed blade. It's quite comfortable to use, and fits in the pocket like a Mora ;)
I don't know why I bought it, but at the time I just went for the biggest one:D
Now I would really like to get a smaller one (6-8).
They're great knives:thumbup:

For the longest (20+) years my lime slicing, pepperoni slicing, coffee stirring knife was a Schrade 123OT. You should have seen that sucker Patina up the first time I sliced a lime with it.

More recently the folders helping me out in the Kitchen have been a Spyderco H1 Salt 1 for chopping fruits and veggies, and a Spyderco Manix for chopping meat. The Manix zips through anything I've put before it, must be a decent edge on the CPM S30V, good blade geometry or both.

Its a friction folder that I made. I wanted to do somthing usful to the tang so I came us with the bottle opener.

Thanks Tracker, I was wondering that exact thing when setting it up - didn't bring the instructions - doh. Now I know.

The kettle is the best I've found - only pot I need for rehydrate cooking and hot drinks.

Yeah, the BM Full grip is great - I also like taking it canoing due to it's molle sheath and stainless steel. flexible tool.

Spyderco Military is hands down my favorite folder for food prep.

4" blade, pointy tip, full height flat grind and a comfy handle.

Pitdog, I can see why those are two of your favorite food prep knives, nice slicers:cool:

Like Mikel 24, I also use an Opinel #8 in carbon steel for most of my trailside and campsite food prep. That long thin blade is a REAL slicer! It is helped along by one of several Moras as well as the SAK I would have along in my pocket.
