Food prices expected to rise

UBET,
I have tried to keep my post low key and friendly since this is turning political. I could say 1% make 20% of all money blah, blah, blah and we could quote facts and figures and it would be pointless, so, I will not.
I only replied to this thread due to you not caring if people starved to death. It's funny, I used to think the same way you do, and used to really hate on some individual groups as I was raised that way. I have got past that and now try to understand, instead of judge people. Each individual is different, different circumstances has led them to where they are. It could be a broken home, violence, alchohol or drug abuse, mental problems, accidents, lack of opportunity. I would bet most people could be successful if they a good start, strong family and finances. Children are born innocent, they only know what they have been taught and this will play a huge role into adulthood. I have had to rethink my positions several times especially, when I see or hear my children say or think in a way that I know came from me. It can be humbling at times even humiliating.
I do not hate or begrudge rich people. I hate Greed and Greedy people and think most problems we have in this world are a direct result of it.
I have become a simple person, I don't waste one second of my time worrying anymore about someone getting a little funny money or if they deserve it. I would like to see some public service if someone is able however, might knock someone out of a job to do so. That is my take on welfare. I don't want too see sick and starving people, and don't won't people so desperate they have to steal from me.:)

Don, We need to abolish all welfare, welfare for other countries, welfare for our enemies, welfare for people who just want to live on it and not get a job. (Their needs to be some type of welfare net, but it needs to be for a short time, not unlimited.)

So, your closing statement contradicts your opening statement. We're not going to abolish welfare and then have a safety net for those that truly need it. So, you think we should have a safety net for those people who need it but it should be short term and not unlimited. There is some sanity to that.

The only problem is - none of this is going to happen my friend. We're not going to abolish foreign aid, even to our enemies or people who consistently vote against us in the U.N. We're not going to abolish corporate welfare and we're not going to abolish domestic welfare, either.

All I said earlier is easily summed up, we should take care of our own and you know what? If some people game and scam the system and get it for free, I'd rather support them than all of these other countries, period. Nothing will EVER change my mind on that.

As far as the disabled, we are/were a rich country, we have the responsibility to support those whe are TRULY disabled and cant work.

Well, I'm glad you don't think my sister who has had Multiple Sclerosis over half of her life now should starve and die. Of course, she has no real right to healthcare, either, so maybe she should just die.

After all, she's just a nutlos esser, eh? I mean, that is the basis of your argument, get rid of the "useless eaters."

The most important thing we could do, is to bring jobs back into the USA...

Yeah, I said that a few times. I'm hoping it will sink in. That if you want people to be responsible and have a job, first hurdle: gets some jobs they can obtain.

...if thats not possible, we need to cut the red tape and make it so its affordable for them to operate here.

Well, let's see, most employers don't offer healthcare any longer or, it's really expensive and sort of shitty...so what do you propose?

It is affordable for them to operate here, the guys who are running the companies don't want to take a pay cut, they never do. Them's the brakes, too. The first thing they look at is the cost of labor. If they can utilize slave labor in China, they will. Unless the U.S. Government makes that less profitable for them to do so.

Then we need to increase our tarrifs with countries like China and others, ecspecially mexico.

And every economist and any other egghead you can dig up will say eight words to you: "Do you want to start a trade war?"

I'm not saying you are incorrect, I'm saying it is not going to happen.

Did you know that the wealthiest 1% pay over 50% of the taxes in the US, the top 10% pay 80-90% of the taxes in America...

That's the conventional wisdom oftentimes bloviated by Limbaugh, Hannity and Company. It has been said so often that it has taken on the power of truth, even if it is not or there are lies by omission in there. You see, to me, it's senseless and inaccurate because it doesn't take into consideration all of the tax loopholes that exist. Hell, would you believe Warren Buffett?

I think they pay more than their far share.

Sure they do, just as Warren Buffett.

Have you ever been hired to work by a poor person?

Have you ever met a platitude you didn't embrace from talk radio?

No, poor people don't create jobs, poor people work them, don't be silly.

But to say that all of the wealthy people who create jobs are creating ones where people can be responsible for themselves as you and I want them to be, would be false. Wal-Mart :::COUGH:::COUGH:::COUGH:::

Some of them do, but it is demonstrable that most of them don't.

I think your earlier post was more honest. You don't care and that's that. Which is fine, you just have to be very careful what you support or wish for, you just might get it.

I wasn't even going to say anything....But! I was one of the many, that could not find any work, for a very long time. I put out a ton of Ap's. But people just did not want to hire. Many places I went to went as far as to just put signs on their front doors saying"Not Taking Applications" I did get unemployment, and would have been lost without it. I have a wife and 2 girls to take care of. I was lucky enough also to have Family that had the Fianances to help out, and put me to work earning some cash doing some remodeling work on their Houses. I'm not some Bleeding heart Liberial...far from it. But some people NEED help, and some Deserve it. But there are plenty of stories of people not lucky, like myself. I have a job now, and the wife has 1 semester of school left, and she will be an RN Nurse. Things will hopefully keep getting better, But I am still not to optamistic about the direction that things are going in the Country.

It can happen to anyone. Some are very fortunate that it does not happen to them. Let someone T-bone you in an intersection and let there be one problem with your insurance or their's, or they don't have any. People can say they will do "this" or they will do "that" or the "other." If they take a screwing from their insurance company or someone else's, they will do this, that or the other. In the meantime, who is paying the rent/mortgage? Who is paying the light bill? A lot of things to consider above and beyond simply having a lack of jobs which is another type of problem.

I used to be someone who was not very lucky and I was working and surviving and I was wrapped up in my own little world and I further insulated myself by listening to people on the radio instead of paying attention to the real world. You can rot your brain that way, in a matter of months. :)
