Food & Traditional Knives

I could go for one of those Chip Butty french fried taters and fish (I presume it has fish) sandwiches Mr. Jack !☺️
Mr. P. goes to England, walks up to English window and says "give me one of those Hartshead french fried taters and fish sandwiches." Waiter has strange look on face. ☺️
I think a chip butty is just fried potatoes on buttered bread. Wouldn't mind adding fish, though!

Looks like you are right my friend. I was going by the wrapper. Maybe you can order fish on the side. My Google search for Chip Butty near me ended in : Best Chip Butty in the world according to food critics and professionals. ... Near me; In the world; In United Kingdom 😲

Safe to say I won't be eating one anytime soon ! 🤣

Maybe I will ask for one at my local Diner and see what response I get. Probably something thrown at me would be my best guess. 🤣

I made my own a few months ago. Just fried some potatoes, buttered two slices of Butter Krust bread, and made a sandwich. But several decades ago, I remember using the same bread to make a taco with fresh fries my grandmother made, and bacon. Even better! Would also be good on a flour tortilla, of course.

New knife (that I added to an Amazon order to get free shipping) helping me get breakfast ready:

Looks like it did a nice job of slicing up the fruits FK Qs ! Fresh fruit is mighty tasty. ;)☺️

But those potatoes on Mr. Jacks sandwich ....err............I mean Chip Butty are cut in a way unlike American potatoes, but, we have knives to cure that. I read that the potatoes are also battered. I mean if I am going to eat one, I want the first one to taste like the genuine English version. It already has enough calories, by the looks of it, to blow my calorie counter up. The bacon sounds really good though and what the heck, maybe some high quality shredded Sargento cheese on my improved second version, if'n I live long enough to eat the second version. Maybe a thin burger on the bottom might be good. In one article I read, it said the Chip butty was best when you were moderately drunk, so bring on the Elijah Craig ! 🤣

Maybe Mr. Jack will come along and tell us the errors in our thinking. 🤣

Last August 1st - Yorkshire Day - I did a giveaway in the Guardians thread, and lots of folks had a go at putting a chip butty together :) There's a bunch of pics there Mr P

Hand-cut potatoes, deep-fried, ideally, but I think some folks had good results with home-fries, if I remember correctly. You can add other things, but that's something else, and sometimes less is more! :D

I always like to try the original recipe first, before I add anything extra. If you don't then you won't know what the original tasted like. I agree, many times less is more. I'll have to look further through the Guardian thread to see what they came up with. ;) 🤣

I agree my friend :) The date should help you turn up some great chip butties in the Guardians thread :D

OK, here it is Friday morning and I am staring at Mr. Jacks's low carb pictures again and getting mighty hungry by now. I have to ask (again since I live across the pond and am not so worldly) what is the meat under the lamb and are the two fried finger like morsels at the top sausage or something else ? It looks mighty tasty, I'll give you that ! ☺️ .................. and nice lamb on top of the meat, as well. I have been out of the United States one time in my life and that was to Niagra Falls, so, with a sling shot, I could have hurled a rock back across the border. 🤣 Gatlinburg, TN. seems like a long trip for me now days. 🤣

Thanks, Rob. :) My "first course" for breakfast each morning is either oatmeal or cold cereal (a mixture of Cheerios, Grape Nuts, Wheat Chex, Shredded Wheat, Bran Flakes, peanuts, flax seed, and Honey Nut Cheerios). I think the photo above must have been taken on a cold cereal day, since I only add fruits to that, while I add fruits, vegetables, and meat to my oatmeal.

Healthy eating is smart GT. ☺️ I need to practice it more often, as does somebody else.;)☺️
You didn't say anything about my F for 5. 🤣

Had a law professor that ate Grape-Nuts mixed with Fruity Pebbles. Dry.

I certainly saw the "FK Qs" in your post, but just thought, "I guess Rob really does substitute "F" for "5" on a regular basis." 🤓

That would be a crunchy combination, Vince, but I think it might put my old choppers at risk! o_O
