Food & Traditional Knives

Here's one of my favorite meals that I should eat much more often than I do. (I usually fix it about once a month, but ought to have it once a week.)
Baked beans, wheat toast with jelly, beer, and "egg stuff". The egg stuff is essentially an omelet, but instead of having the cheese folded inside, I just cook the eggs and vegetables in a circular pan and sprinkle shredded cheese on top after I flip the egg stuff. This particular example contains onions, green peppers, zucchini, and buffalo summer sausage, all chopped and stirred into a couple of eggs. As the photo shows, I typically cut my disk of egg stuff in half and save one half for a second meal a day or two later.

At the end of April, we drove to St. Paul MN for our daughter's May 3 wedding. It's a 9-hour drive, but we geezers split it into a 2-day trip, stopping overnight in Janesville WI, about the halfway point of the trip. Our Janesville hotel was right next to a Cracker Barrel restaurant, so we ate supper there. I ordered a turkey pot pie, since I'm a big fan of pot pies (I even liked shepherd's pie in the college cafeteria 50+ years ago). My pot pie was large with a tasty, flaky crust. Since it was at Cracker Barrel, it also had enough salt in it to satisfy my minimum requirement for both April and May!

If you are into pens, that used to be the headquarters and one manufacturing place for the Parker Pen company.

Also that pot pie looks delicious! I feel like French knives are at home with food.

Thanks for the info. :)
I'm not really a pen guy (I'm perfectly happy with a 17¢ Bic Round Stic or the clear hexagonal Bic Crystal), but it's cool to know something about Janesville.

I really liked the pot pie, except I was surprised the crust was only on top.

Earlier this month, we spent a few days in Menasha WI on our way back to Michigan from our daughter's wedding in St. Paul MN. The first night in Menasha, we found the Glass Nickel Pizza Company online and saw that it was only a half-mile from where we were staying. So we ordered a couple of subs and I walked over to pick them up and bring them back to the house we were renting. Pictured below is half of my Santa Fe sub: chicken, BBQ sauce, red onions, red peppers, jalapeños, and cheddar. It really hit the spot after driving all afternoon!

Yeah, I much prefer a whole crust pot pie myself, but at least you still got pot pie either way.

Love that chicken from Popeyes! 🤣 Is that the new Golden BBQ sandwich, if not have you tried it? The classic sandwich is awesome, I really need to try the BBQ but it's hard to deviate from something I know is so good.

Good old Applebees!!!
