Food & Traditional Knives

About a month ago, I had breakfast with 3 guys I'd met in college when we all started in 1969. We went to a place called Wolfgang's. I think Wolfgang's parents started a restaurant called Just Breakfast at the current location in 1977 (a few years after my buddies and I had graduated from college); it was the first place in Grand Rapids that served only breakfast all day and deep into the night.

I ordered a breakfast burrito, with choice of potatoes - I opted for redskin home fries (instead of hash browns). Since we didn't get to the restaurant until 8:30, and I usually eat breakfast at 6, I had had toast, coffee, and cookie as an appetizer before I left home. So I ended up taking about half of my breakfast order home with me. A couple of days later, I had my breakfast leftovers as my evening meal. Here you can see my fried potatoes and burrito in a bowl along with some asparagus and zucchini I chopped up. You can see that the burrito consisted of "a flour tortilla stuffed with scrambled eggs, Cajun sausage, and cheddar cheese." You can't see that it was smothered in fresh homemade salsa, but just trust me.

I chopped up the burrito and mixed it in with the potatoes and other vegetables, nuked it, and served it to myself along with a Shiner Bock. Tasty!

I added some leftover Utica Greens to my breakfast this morning. A spicy start to the day! The Boker Gents knife wanted to share the spotlight.

Can't resist when Sam's Club has nicely marbled tritips in stock. Duck fat binder, liberal coating of salt, garlic salt, pepper, and a little sugar to help with the char. Smoked with Jealous Devil charcoal and Central CA coast red oak in the stick burner to 130 degrees IT then kissed by flaming flamingo pareiodolia fire. Sour dough bread toasted with yard herbs and some salad to complete the feast. Smoke on!

Fried egg sandwich with spicy brown mustard, plus a scoop of cold beans:

I don't remember exactly what I stirred into the egg before frying. You can analyze this close-up for clues. To me, it looks like there are diced green peppers, hot pepper rings, and maybe onions in there, with some shredded cheese on top (maybe some diced summer sausage, too).

I usually eat more than once a day, but I rarely remember to take photos. But here's a recent variation of the egg sandwich in the previous post.
I've enjoyed beans WITH toast for decades, and Jack Black Jack Black taught me to appreciate the efficient beans ON toast. From there, I got creative and recently "invented" a hard-boiled egg, beans, and onion on toast sandwich. Behold:

Breakfast today consisted of a medley of leftovers: sausage, potatoes, zucchini, peppers, mushrooms, and onions in a 2-egg frittata, sprinkled liberally with Pecorino Romano Cheese. Toasted Tuscan Bread spread with Basil Pesto rounds it out.
My glennbad glennbad GAW prize looks on.

5K Qs 5K Qs beans, onions, and eggs together ... don't take it wrong but glad I don't work close to you!

Boneless / skinless chicken breasts using cherry wood in the stickburner until 160 IT. 60 sec char on both sides over the coals and time to eat. Drybrined them for a couple hours using EVOO, salt, black pepper, and black garlic, sure were juicy. Homemade pasta tastes amazing considing it's only flour, oil, and a couple eggs. Topped with garlic butter and Parmesan cheese, yeah! Even the steamed brussle sprouts weren't bad.

John, no offense taken. But I don't seem to get extra gas from certain foods - they all affect me equally. Maybe I'm gas-powered, just like the cars I grew up with. ;)

Your sprouts, pasta, and grilled chicken sure looks fantastic!
