Footwear?

With all these threads on hats and belts, I thought I'd throw in a thread on footwear.

I found a pair of Lowa Renegade GTX Mids with the Gore-Tex lining at a thrift store for a whopping $9 nearly brand new, with no wear whatsoever and barely broken-in, and my feet are still thanking me. That's these ones here, which go for $190 at REI. I think I got a bargain. They do get a bit warn in the summertime, but not nearly as bad as you'd think, and the sheer comfort far outweighs that. I can walk all day in these boots with no problems at all.

So, what shoes/boots/sandals/high heels do y'all wear out in the woods? :D

I've been using a pair of Chaco sandals over the summer...hiking, around water and bouldering. They're a little rough on your feet as you get use to them, but they have been outstanding performers for me. My wife talked me into getting a pair of Keens...low-top shoes/boots; very comfortable especially in this hot weather down here. Now that we're cooling off, I have a solid pair of leather boots (actually they were from Cabelas) with good Norwegian double stitch construction.

My wife actually buys her Keens off of Ebay for ridiculous prices.

Meidl Island Pro, they are fantastic. I have had them for 10 years and they are still good. When they wear out I will probably replace them with a new identical pair.

ECCO - I wear these, currently;

But, I've worn out two pairs of these;

I wear my current pair of boots as work/everyday boots, they are incredibly comfortable, and pretty lightweight. I prefer the plain toe in the first pic because we have lots of briers on our property that are just like barbed wire, and which tear out the stitches on the sewn toe.

Both types of these boots are just really good all around hiking/outdoor boots.

It depends on the terrain but recently I have been wearing Montrail Hard Rocks...I used to wear a heavier boot but after smashing my ankle earlier this year I've had to change my footwear around a little!

Lowa Banffs, and my wife wears Lowa Sports when we hike. The Banffs are serious off-trail boots, but comfortable even when on day hike without a heavy pack.

Merrile Moab for me. The most comfy boots i ever had. Breath well on hikes in the hot weather. The only problems i got with them is with water they slip as if you are walking on ice on wet rocks. Also not doing as well on loose rocks. I do still wear them as they are light weight and easy to walk in for miles at the time. Just wish they had a much more aggrasive sole.

I have a pair of broken in Nike hiking boots, or a pair of broken in Nike ACG shoes, unsure of the pattern. The discount shoe store near me is still getting them. I have a pair that has enough tread for cutting grass, a pair for hiking and traipsing around, and a good pair for work. The pair for work is about a month old, and still look brand new.

An old pair of Vasque Sundowners are my favorite. They're getting well worn and I'm not sure what I'll replace them with when the time comes as the new Sundowners don't appeal to me.

Lighter weight boots are Asolo FSN95s. They aren't too bad but they're not the Vasques.

Bates 926's or Oakley Assault boots. The Oakley's are amazingly comfortable and light but the Bates are a little more rugged, offer more support, and have been waterproofed.

Wow, this thread took off better than I expected it to! Thanks for all the replies, some nice footwear you guys have.

Keep 'em coming.

Been a big fan of Blundstones since my first pair about 5 years ago.

Amazingly comfortable, tough construction and can be "dress casual"

These are the ones I have now.
