for a knife

Why you ask what knife when you hats all suggest? If you like Bantam then buy Bantam.

Kwon Kwang I saw some reviews on youtube sinse 2008 and 2009. I think that this knife are 10 years old. I think that cold steel has found a better mechanism the triad lock system.

i have try to cut PVC, to make holes in hard objects, and yesterday to open a locked wooden box.

Buy the proper tools for those tasks, then buy an Opinel for cutting things.

Ding,ding. We have a winner.

Or just buy a small sturdy fixed blade. Even a low cost Mora number 1 will out perform most folders costing many times more.

I just look for a knife without blade play, good lock and low price.

I have see some reviews and the list has

1) buck bantman
2) cs bushman
3) ka bar hunter

i believe that are for me. have anyone one of this or someone in the same categorie?

No, the Triad lock is THE strongest lock on the market, Cold Steel hasn't found something better, the Triad lock is one of the things they promote.

What do you think of this one. It's a Leatherman Crater (C33). Well respected brand, 420HC Steel. I've been carrying this for a good 7 months or so, never failed me, good edge retention, I could whittle sticks all afternoon with it. Never found a use for the attached carabiner, but it doesn't get in the way as I thought it would. I would check it out, its in the 20-30 dollar price range and can be found in many stores, where can you go wrong?

Has copper washers, absolutely no blade play at all even after medium to heavy work (Work that I should have used a larger stronger knife for) But it did great

Umm, what? Liner locks and even moreso lockbacks from respectable companies(like Kershaw, and Byrd which is just a division of Spyderco) are perfectly fine unless you're doing something incredibly stupid with your knife.

Still, if those aren't good enough(and I repeat, if they're not good enough, it's because YOU are doing something you shouldn't be), Opinels are cheap and have a ring lock(don't think any other knife uses it), and Enlan has a couple knives with a version of Benchmade's axis-lock.

Actually, Nontron, another French knife maker, also uses a ring lock on many of their knives. They cost, however, several times as much as an Opinel does and I cannot seem to come up with an excuse to try one, when an Opinel is so much cheaper. The Nontron uses the exact same steels as Opinel does. The Opinel is probably my favorite knife and I have a lot of them, but the ring lock, effective as it is, can lull you into a false sense of security. The Opinel is not intended for very heavy use and if used hard enough, the ring lock can pop right off with unexpected and perhaps tragic results. The Opinel is intended for light duty and especially for cutting up delicious French cheese, bread and charcuterie. Yum!

Oh, cool. Hadn't actually heard of Nontron, but now that I have, and looked at their prices...yeah, not for me. I'm not crazy about Opinels either tbh, but they're at least a good value.

For me it's the Ontario RAT 1 hands down. It's been my EDC for years and I've never once had an issue w/ the liner lock. Then again I don't go around smacking the spine on boards or getting into knife fights...

I will check the Leatherman Crater . Here we have very little variety in stores so I cant find many brands.

From that group I would choose either the KaBar or the Bushman. I've had KaBar's Dozier folders before. They are very solid and an excellent value for the $. Never had a Bushman but I've had Cold Steels. The oldest folder I still have is a CS from the Late '80's or early 90's. Still has a solid lockup, no blade play, and is razor sharp.

The bantman and hunter have a little bladeplay in some piecies. Is 50%-50% to find the good lock. The CS bushman isnt my best option but is in the list for the good locking is very big to have it in your pocket, open and close hard ... isnt comfortable.

Where are you getting this information? Not from this thread. And if you know this information, why would you even ask about the knives, only to then tell us they are no good when we answer?

Strange.

By the way, information you have gotten about the Kabar Dozier Folding Hunter is utter nonsense. I have one and it is as solid as a rock and locks like a bear trap.

I look the same time in the internet other reviews. For the Kabar the thruth is that i read only one review with blade play...but buck hunter has this problem. I think that the best choice is kabar dozier hunter. Is small to have it in your pocket, has good lock (awarded i think), open and close easy, sharp blade, lightweight and in very low price for its quaity. The Kabar put it in military & tactical knives...maybe for the design.
