It seems we like to discuss knives in the news a good bit around here. I have an idea. I have access to several news services like AP, Reuters and others. If you guys would like I could create a new forum which would just be about knives in the news. Good, Bad whatever. I think it could be a huge resource for info and of interest to readers here. Even though much of what is written in the news is screwed up and the focus is scewed we could get some really interesting reading and it would go towards helping make this an online magazine of sorts.

So if enough of you want it I will put it up.

My only question is, who's gonna feed in the articles? Any of us who come across something?

Good idea, Mike, as a member of several obscure (by "average" standards)special interest groups (knife collecting, bicycle racing, fine arts etc) I'm always interested to see and maintain a pulse on, the way the mainstrean press views us. I think it may help us to pinpoint ways we can better "market" ourselves to the great untutored masses.

Good idea Mike, nothing enpowers us more than raw information. We can make a difference only if we knew what is actually going on out there in the knife scene.

In my opinion, the press is a pain in the neck. I try to hear the people or lawmakers themselves talk on the TV rather then reading flavored accounts from newspeople. When they, AP, Reuters and others quote the actual people involved, in context, or tell us what happened somewhat truthfully, it is fine, and great to have information. So yes, they give us Stock news etc., so why not Blade news and happenings.

Mike, I'd be a little surprised if you get any "no" votes on this.

Would this be for discussion of the news articles or as a read-only newsfeed?

Excellent idea. There is a thriving Canadian custom knife industry which occasionally gets some positive press.
 
Add another tally to the YES column. I think such a forum would be an excellent resource.

Jim,

I would load all the articles into the forum. Also if anyone else finds an article that would be fine. I may set up the forum so only I culd start a thread with the headline from the news article and then you could reply to it.
