For Sale Threads

For myself, F&F is a no-go.

I used to purchase quite a few knives…but when asking almost full price plus I have to pay F&F fees on my end with no protection…stopped my buying in it’s tracks.

same, i saw a great deal on a sebenza the other day, but low post account, not much feed back, sure it was cheap, but I rather some one else take the hit if it goes sideways. Friends and family are for actual friends and family.

I was noticing the same... I haven't frequented the for sale section in quite awhile. Then I take a peek in search for a particular knife and notice every thread wants Paypal F&F, when I could swear that used to be frowned upon... I understand how the laws have changed, so I get it. It really makes feedback (and account age) a vital tool to look at when buying. Probably going to be hard for new sellers to get in on the action as a result.
I think a lot of buy/sell action occurs on Reddit now, as they have a very active userbase there. If I wasn't too old to figure out how to post there I would use it too.

And pricing... I don't care if your knife was a safe queen, its secondhand. if I can buy it new from any retailer for $5 more than your asking price... Why would I take the risk to buy it here?

My buying has transitioned mostly to the bay auction site. Large pool of stuff to look at, and occasionally you get a steal if you know what you are looking for. And there is buyer protection.

I suggest GEC starts making modern folding knives. That will increase the interest in buying.

There are new knives coming out every day, with newer steels, locks, warranty.
If you want a modern knife you are more likely to buy a new one rather than an old one.

Even in the traditional section not all knives sell fast. Certain brands/models sell, but others, where people can just go and buy the same knife or a newer version of it from a shop have to be pretty low in price to sell.

Problem with fleabay is that there is so many pakistani or chinese crap knives flooding every page. You almost have to search for specific stuff to cut out all that.

What does this have to do with a Sales Thread?

No offense but GEC going modern is idiotic. 90% Can't even get their hands on GEC drops because they sell out too fast.

Things have slowed down a little on BF and I think there's a lot of good points so far, but it isn't hard to sell things here if your price is right. Some may not like this but I find way more knives I like and prices I'm willing to pay on the knife swap reddit.

No offense, but reading and humour seem to evade you.

Knife prices have been going up for years. Often the same make and model going higher, and higher. They have hit a point that I am not willing to pay. Drops, cliques, and cults haven't helped. And PayPal F&F! I am not using F&F with someone that I met on the internet!
