This one really melts in the hand. Not a sharp edge on the thing outside of the edge itself which is very very sharp. I've had this thing for a few weeks now and it was a little tight at first but now when the lock is engaged the blade falls to a half stop position and with a little nudge the blade feels like it's being sucked into the well by a vacuum. Knife by Tom Ploppert.

I think you meant “disengaged”. ;)
Beautiful knife too!

Those are fantastic blue oak covers on your Sunfish Pinemoon
Thank you
I was thinking the same about yours
That's a killer handle material; hopefully they'll use more of it.

A question.
Since you have both AGR Sunfishes, old and new, I'm curious about the blades. They're supposed to be the same size despite the older knife having a considerably larger handle. Can you get a shot of them tip to tip?

Interesting, thanks for the comparison
I really like AGR's stuff, especially lately.
It's cool seeing your Sunfishes. That old model is HUGE. It must be a handful. My newer Sunfish is easily my biggest, heftiest folder. Seeing the size of that older one is CRAZY

I'm thinking you have a sheath for it or it stays at home, lol!

I see the blade is indeed a bit shorter on the new model. The width looks the same...
According to the AGR site, the blades are the same size. Oh well, now we know.....

But what's really cool on the new model is the interrupted lock-bar pivot. As I'm sure you know, this allows a wider blade. For those just tuning in, here's the description about the feature :

A.G. was fond of large folding Rope knives and was especially proud of the Sunfish Pattern he designed for the 2010 A.G. Russell™ Texas Ranger Knife. When A.G. mentioned to Goldie that he would like to do another Sunfish pattern pocketknife, sometimes referred to as an Elephant’s Toenail pocketknife, she requested a smaller one with a 4" handle. A.G. said, "Fine, but it has to have the same size blade as the original". With the help of Phil Gibbs, and over a month of work, they accomplished just what A.G. wanted, a Sunfish with a 4" handle and a 3-1⁄8" blade. This was accomplished with the development of the new A.G. Russell ™ ILPS™. (Interrupted Lockbar Pivot System.) ILPS™ allows the blade, when closed, to occupy space normally used by the lockbar pivot pin. ILPS™ uses two separated pins, one on each side of the lockbar; consequently the blade can be significantly wider than would otherwise be possible in the same width handle. The steel in the wide drop point blade is 8Cr13MoV at 57-59 Rc. The bolsters, liners and shield are stainless steel. Measures 4" closed. Weighs about 6.3 oz. depending on the handle material. Made in China.
