A nice pair of 4" 1306 replicas by Takeshi Matsusaki i managed to get my hands on this year. I bought the mammoth and really liked the work and one morning I was literally thinking I wanted a stag one ... Low and behold I checked my email that night and Chris on here had listed his. Sometimes stuff just works out but they are a beautiful pair. I originally thought the stag model had nickel silver liners... Taking a subtle warmer hue compared to the spring and stainless bolsters ... However all my knives with nickel silver anything patina and rust if I look at them wrong and the liners on this knife have not despite handling frequently. I almost wonder if it's 300 series stainless -- non -magnetic -- the only reason I wonder about this is I've seen a Japanese maker label a Ron Lake tribute as having a SUS304 frame that I had assumed was nickel silver (warmer tone than the spring and blade) when looking at the photos -- but who knows... Maybe there's nickel silver less prone to tarnish? Whatever it is I like it more than stainless now that I know it's not going to rust.. buttery smooth but with a positive walk and talk... I The mammoth is just plain smooth with an easy pull and looks like 400 series ss.

That’s a fine looking pair You’ve got there. I had never considered the liners could be different steel than the bolster, I had just assumed that the bolsters and lockbar were polished and the liners were satin finished. But Now I see it would be very difficult to put a different finish on the bolster and liner..interesting stuff
