Scenario: The world has experienced a major catastrophe. Could be a Walking Dead situation (I know, just for fun though) or an EMP and you are on your own situation. IF...... and I say IF because this is just for fun.... You can only have ONE SAK... what do you choose? I can see so many arguments in so many ways.

Remember guys, this is STRICTLY an SAK thread. No reason to bring up how Leatherman would be better etc.

Let's go!

Bonus points for photos!!

I’ve tried a lot of SAKs and an alox Farmer fits my needs the best in the real world. For your scenario, I’d probably go with a Swiss or Work Champ, due to the multitude of tools.
Nice choices! I think the Urban/Rural situation would make a difference. The farmer is a sweet middle ground.

I venture the woods quite a bit, so I get a lot of use from the saw and the awl in the Farmer. It’s basically my kindling knife and food knife when outdoors. I agree that a bigger selection of tools would serve you better in an urban setting too.

Logic dictates Workchamp.

"Others" for me would be the Cybertool Lite, Traveller Lite, Pioneer and Harvester Alox and the Rangergrip.

I'd go with the Swisschamp. I carry one around in my backpack and it's been useful in more ways than I anticipated, and isn't too bulky or heavy considering all the features. None of the tools are the largest or best of that category, but you can make do with all of them, and many can be used in multiple different ways. IMO, the non popsicle stick handle SAKs sacrifice too many tools in exchange for a slightly bigger knife that's still not a full sized knife.

SwissChamp is a solid answer.

The Swiss Champ was my vote but those plastic scales may break in the WOROL scenarios... its to bad they don't do the Champ in Alox
My other choice would be a Pioneer X Alox
^^Small digging and picking with the awl and a somewhat larger blade than the Champ.

Swisschamp makes the most sense. I have a Champion from about 20 years ago that I like.

However, I went with the Huntsman. I'd want the saw, or else I'd go with the Explorer.

Swisschamp paired with a good fixed blade for wood processing/self defense. I carry both a Swisschamp and a Mora Garberg in my pack and those two seem to pair well. If I had time to actually prepare, I think I might also grab a tomahawk or a Kukri

If it was the only knife I could have, then I would want one of the one-hand-opening SAKS, like my One-hand Trekker.
But if I could have other knives, then the SAK I would want would be the Vic Handyman.

I voted SwissChamp (I collect them), but candidly, I'd proooooobably just carry my Ranger 78 and call it good. Or maybe the 79, with its tinder and steel in the corkscrew.
