For the sake of their souls…

That exact article was in my newspaper this morning. The SBs aren't going to win any popularity contests for awhile. I wonder if they'll start praying for the Buddhists soon. If they do, then we can blame Bill's cussing (kidding, Bill).

------------------
Well NOW you tell me!

If you notice, the article's bottom line says that a guide to praying for Buddhists is also planned.

What makes this more hilarious is that I've been packing things up to give to the Lutheran Ladies bazzar tomorrow, so this gives me an excuse for a break.

Now get this, gang. Whenever I go to Reno, I stop at an International market a few blocks north of Uncle Bill's. I go in and buy a couple pounds of curry, and so on, for the Catholic priest down here in Hawthorne, Nevada. The last two sent here have been missionaries TO THE USA FROM INDIA!!! The American Catholic Church can't get enough Americans to become priests to replace the ones who are retiring, LOL.

As far as Baptists go, why some of my best friends are ....

When I get finished packing and taking stuff over for the sale tomorrow, I think I'll sharpen my hand-and-a-half, and clean the Uzi.

At least MY God has a sense of humor.

Lemme ask y'all a dumb question. Do y'all think that followers of Christ should ignore Him when He commanded:

"... Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned" Mark 16:15-16

Now, I would expect non-Christians to be a little defensive when seeing news of this kind, but to claim to be a Christian and scoff at the notion of people going out to "save lost souls" is beyond my belief.

To claim to be a Christian and proclaim anything other than Jesus being the only way is to be living a lie.

Uncle Bill: I feel saintly when I manage to go through a day without giving someone directions to the warmer place.

Senator: Anything you say. If you still want to argue, maybe the folks below can accomodate you.

Senator,

I suggest you follow the small clear voice within. The one you probably identify with Jesus.

I just can’t help but smile when Southern Baptists say

Hindus have no concept of sin or personal responsibility.

The inferential statistics I am able to do on both populations from the small samples of both I have known lead me to quite different conclusions about the average level of moral development of both populations.

By the way, I claim adherence to no religion. Everyone gets to feel superior to me.

Khukuri FAQ

Everyone gets to feel superior to me.

Do I feel superior? No. Fortunate? Yes.

I don't personally know any Christians (as opposed to church-goers) that think they have a superior level of moral development. I've also never met a Christain who's told me that they are sinless. I don't doubt that some Christians do feel superior - after all every person is a sinner. Christians are no different. As a group, all Christains are succeptible to all the sins of the world. But, the ones I know are accutely aware of their personal shortcomings (sin). However, they also feel fortunate (there's that word again) that God provided a way to bridge the gap (sin) between them and Him - Jesus.

:
These are the words of Sagoyewatha ("Red Jacket", Chief of the Seneca) to missionary Reverend Cram from the Boston Missionary Society at Buffalo Creek 1805:

"You say that you are sent to instruct us how to worship the Great Spirit agreeably to His mind, and, if we do not take hold of the religion which you white people teach, we shall be unhappy hereafter. You say that you are right and we are lost.

How do we know this to be true? We understand that your religion is written in a book. If it was intended for us as well as you, why has not the Great Spirit given to us, and not only to us, but why did He not give to our forefathers the knowledge of that book, with the means of understanding it rightly?

We only know what you tell us about it. How shall we know when to believe, being so often deceived by the white people?

Brother, you say there is but one way to worship and serve the Great Spirit.

If there is but one religion, why do you white people differ so much about it?

Why not all agreed, as you can all read the book?

Brother, the Great Spirit has made us all...we do not wish to destroy your religion or take it from you.

We only want to enjoy our own. . .you say you have not come to get our land or our wealth but to enlighten our minds. . .you have been preaching to the white people in this place.

These people are our neighbors. We are acquainted with them. We will wait a little while and see what effect your preaching has upon them.
If we find it does them good, makes them honest and less disposed to cheat Indians, we will then consider again of what you have said.

Brother, you have now heard our answer to your talk, and this is all we have to say at present As we are going to part, we will come and take you by the hand and hope the Great Spirit will protect you on your journey and return you safe to your friends."

As the Indians began to approach the missionary, he rose hastily from his seat and replied that he could not take them by the hand; that there was no fellowship between the religion of God and the works of the devil.

This being interpreted to the Indians, they smiled, and retired in a peaceable manner.

And so it continues.

Very wise words, Yvsa.
Despite any delusions to the contrary, there are NO mandates, period.
Peace.
