Hey guys.
Ive got an idea id like to run by you first before I post elsewhere.

Ive got several pieces of Granite that I have smoothed down and tumbled into 'ice cube' sized pieces.
The idea here is put the 'Whiskey Rocks' in the freezer and let them get real cold.
Then put the rocks into your whiskey glass to chill your drink without it being diluted. :D

The stones measure approximately 1'' x 1''
The redish-maroon parts in the rocks are garnets that are actually semi-precious stones. They occur in all types of granite.

If there is an interest I would try and sell these 6 for $20 shipped.
That would be $14 for the stones and $6 for shipping.

Give me some feedback and let me know what yall think.
Thanks!

I'm in for a dozen!
I've been wanting to pick some up and these look unique.

Wow! OK. I can have them tumbled and polished in about a week.
All I have are these six right now. I didn't want to make a bunch and then no one be interested.

I can also make them in different types of granite with more color and character.
I made these out of a 'whiter' granite to have more of an ice cube look.

i am for-sure a whiskey drinker. i typically have a couple bourbons each night....ya know, cuz it's good for me.

i also tend to favor the high ABV ones (the couple i typically drink are 65%+), so i generally like an ice cube in it to help mellow it out.

with that said, i would love to try your whiskey stones. i am definitely in for 6. i would prefer the darker granite though, if you have some available.

hit me with a PM and let me know how i can pay you.

thanks heefage

Ill tumble and polish some more and let you know when their ready.
Ill pick out some with some darker character for you.
Thanks for the interest!

Is granite non reactive? The ones you see in stores are soapstone, which doesn't alter the flavor. I'm interested in a set.

ETA: Granite is non reactive, so it shouldn't alter the taste of the whisky.

When you get the darker ones done, please post a few pics. I drink mine neat; but I'd consider grabbing some as gifts (and/or just to have here)

I have a set of soapstone shotglasses -- same theory.
cool idea - best of luck with it.

No, the granite will not be reactive with the whiskey. Seeing the granite whiskey rocks for sale is where this idea came from.
I have, literally, tons of granite I work with everyday and im trying to find alternate uses for the massive amounts of waste we deal with up here.
I think this is an inexpensive way to eliminate some of that waste, while at the same time make some people happy.

We also deal in Soapstone. Ill try and get a couple batches of Soapstone ready too to show yall.

Interesting idea. Any chance of posting color options? I bought a set of soapstones for a friend last year and he seems to enjoy them.

what size soapstone scraps can you get?
I have friends who are historical reenactors and they use it to make moulds for coins/medallions and stuff.

Yeah, I would get 2 sets heef and I like the ones posted, but wouldn't mind waiting to see some color options..:D

Anything under 20" wide is fair game for the dumpster.
Average cabinet depth is 24", so if we know its too small for a cabinet we toss it in the dumpster.
I keep alot for myself to make small coffee tables, night stands or end tables and my dad builds the base table for the stone to sit on.
I also make cutting boards that are great for filleting fish.
The cutting boards dull the heck out of your knife if you chop on them though.

The only thing that sucks about all this is the weight.
I cant ship anything large that I make because this stuff weighs almost 20lbs. per sqft.

How big of a piece of soapstone you looking for?

Im going to get alot of these whiskey rocks made up and get you guys some pictures.
Granite comes in every color of the rainbow. I have green, blue, purple, red... you name it!
Ive already had enough interest in these to make it worth my while.

there's a large flat rate box called the "board game" box - it's the same size as 2 board games, so roughly 24 x 12 x 3.
could you fill one of those?

I'm up for 6 "rocks". Various colors are good!!!

Just provide information to JK. He can email me and I will pay via Paypal, check or whatever works best for you.

I really like your concept. Definitely worth a try on the occasional bourbon. Real Americans drink bourbon! but of course whiskey is cool.

Just so you now - there is a 70 pounds limit for flat rate boxes of any size - 20 lbs. for international shipments.

You just might be pushing the limits with that request  :)

Sure. I could get a piece that big. That would weigh right around 40-50 lbs., so shipping shouldn't be a problem.
The final size would be 24x12 with an 1 1/4'' thickness.
