What is my EDC if it is NOT a Buck?
Back in the 1980s, I worked in the oil industry, first in a technical laboratory testing cement formulations and later on out on drilling rigs as a "Mud Man". Back then, for anyone working in a hard hat, the knife to have was a Buck 110 in a belt pouch. That was heavy, hard usage. I ran through several 110s cutting open bags of chemicals and cement, along with other abusive usage.
Later on in life, I worked in health care doing diagnostic imaging with isotopes ("Nuc-Med"). I still carried a Buck 110, sometimes in a belt pouch but more often, just in a pocket. But that was heavy, and I really didn't need that big clip-point blade.
When Leatherman tools arrived on the scene, they were an attractive package of features. But the early models were s bit small and inconvenient to deploy. Finally, they came out with the Wave models and similar versions. I switched to a Lesatherman Wave as my EDC. At one time or another, have I used every tool, except the saw, at work in a major hospital. However, the most important festure to me was the ability to deploy either blade without fumbling to open the tool.
