for winter, what Buck ya carrying and how cold is it...

We have been having the worst ice storm I have seen since around 1978.

Fortunately the small town where I live has escaped the power outages, at least so far. Reports are that a lot of the surrounding area and towns have lost power. We did lose internet service for most of the last two days, but that came back on a couple hours ago. The temperature here is 35° F, but is predicted to rise over night. So hopefully by this time tomorrow the ice will just be a bad memory.

I have been carrying this knife the last few days.

O.B.

We were -20 degrees at sunup this morning and wind chill at -36. My gas compressor unit stayed on but wells are freezing off and our flow is only 25% of normal in the system. I’m carrying my usual Vantage Pro 20cv and 303 cadet but the wind chill is doing the cutting like a knife. Lol close that north door!

In January, 1963 the official temperature in Laramie was -50°F, some unofficial readings were -55°. Within 24 hours, it warmed to 30°. We all thought it was a heatwave.
whoa thats cold. I'll bet. a delta of 80 degrees shift in one day would feel warm even though ice cold to me. beautiful country out there......too cold for me though and the land prices have risen out there to make Florida seem like a bargain still.

Went and visited two national parks in Utah this weekend. 23° F with windchill 9°F but hiking around it wasn't do bad. The first day it was rainy and windy and that was horrible and cold. But my 110 accompanied me as usual these days. But I think I'll pick up a new 112 in the next month or two.

It was officially 81 in Ocala today but my Honda said it was 86..It must be really nice way up North in Spring, Summer and Fall to make it worth enduring bitter dangerous cold winters plus the hassle and danger of deep snow.. I carried a odd 112 today the "Rubber Bucky" my Brother David made a dozen years ago or more. His 110 version got passed around the USA and maybe Germany too. Some of ya'll might remember. Its really secure in your hand when they are wet..20210215_231056.jpg

Its 25 and a light snow right now here in West Central Texas. White stuff been on the ground several days now. Rare happening for this area.
Rolling power outages, but have left water dripping so only one pipe burst so far. But dropping into mid to low teens again tonight.

So im not carrying anything around the house. But have a real mess here on my desk.. Maybe you can tell that my favorite 110 are the older two scale pin two liners,, And there is one rare one that has no scale pins. It was mentioned in the Tom Ables book. Might be in Joes list.. need to look.

Yall stay warm...Getting harder here.

Temperatures climbed to 45°F today and likely broke a few records around here but Old Man Winter isn't done with us yet. Supposed to be 3" of rain and 12" of snow tomorrow. Ugh.

Carrying two today. The charcoal 112 drop point that's doing the grunt work and this beauty that strictly came along for the ride. It's another one of Mike's finds. (thank you @Makael)

Two days ago it was 70° and sunny. Today it's hovering in the high 20's with 2 to 5 inches of snow expected.

Here's what I grabbed this morning. It may help give you an idea of what the 105 Pro green Micarta looks like compared to the brown on the 112 Pro. Different lighting conditions and sitting next to a light brown does make it appear slightly more greenish but on it's own I still say it appears mostly brown. I'll link this post to the other thread.
