I know there was talk about some of you being contacted by Left field productions in regards to the new knife-centric program. I was surprised to see a commercial for the show while watching "Texas Rising" On Demand. I don't recognize the contestants, just wondering if any of you know more about them or the judges?

I'm worried that the format will limit the ability to show what is actually involved in knifemaking, but I'm certainly going to watch in any case.

Brace yourself for an influx of beginners asking questions.
Here, or in the General forum? I mostly stay away from General. Not because I'm not a snob, but you can only read about how the Sebenza isn't worth it, "what's the best sub ($whatever) folder or what do you edc... questions for so many years before it gets old. God bless the mods!

Direct all questions about the show to H&T. :)

I'm thinking this forum will get blown up from newbies wanting to start making knives. Hopefully they can't find it unless they are serious about it!

No, a link to the commercial, promo, trailer that was shown. I can't find it
You know, the first thing I did before posting this was to look for a clip of the ad so I could post it, but I cannot find it either. I'm sure it'll be on YouTube soon. If not I can use my phone to grab the clip from the TV, but the quality always sucks.

I didn't recognize anyone either when I saw it last night.

Alright, please don't hate me that I've never heard of that show, but could you post what season & episode (or however it's listed in On Demand) of it you were watching and at what minute mark you saw the ad? I'm curious enough to turn on my tv and fast foward through to watch the commercial :D

The show is playing the summer and History Channel does not appear to have the trailer up yet. Our colleague Mr. J. Nielson is listed as one of the judges.

Texas Rising is worth checking out! Mini-series that covers early Texas, the Alamo and what happened after. I believe only the first episode is out, so it's on that one.

I believe it was somewhere around the halfway mark, but I'm not sure if they change advertisements around or if they're static.

Dave, what did you think of the show? I trust your historical opinion over tv.

Thanks Anthony!

Just found it, but it's a short one.. :thumbdn: Nonetheless it looks like it might be pretty cool, but from how little it shows it could go either way..

For anybody that's interested it is around the start of the 1:44 mark. :)

J. Nielson was the only person there I had ever heard of. Nice to finally meet him. The host has been on a few other shows I had seen. The other two I had never heard of.
