Forged in Fire: Knife or Death

The series was filmed long before it was aired. I suspect that the contestants have no idea what the challenges were. They seemed to have made the course geared more toward brutal power and destruction. I feel bad for the ladies, at this point. Two female Bladesport competitors had a hard go. The obstacle heights seem adjusted for the average male size.

They need to change it up in future episodes or seasons. Maybe have some precision cutting challenges where a steady hand and a keen mind win out.Like a tangle of ropes and they have to cut the right one to release the door to the next challenge. The possibilities are endless.... "escape room"

My family likes it... and I do love my wife's comments

Going in they told us that the course was of equal challenge to man and woman, neither would have an advantage.
They also said that a 10" blade would be just as capable as a sword, No Axes Allowed.

It has obviously not been equal for man and woman.
I'd like to see the lady the used to test the course, I bet she is a BEAST.

They did tell us they expected carnage and broken blades.
That one has held true for sure.

I’m thinking a modified gladius might be a great type of blade for the show. Maybe a longer handle if you want to wield it with both hands. Just in case they have some stabbing challenges upcoming where a competition cutter might have some problems.

Although the kukri made short work of the course, so maybe I’m wrong.

What in the hell was that dude with the butcher’s knife thinking lol.

Just watched the second episode. It was nice to see some contestants making it to the end of the 1st course. I had a feeling that the guy who "know more about knives than most of the world" (or whatever he said in the intro) wouldn't get too far. Travis' comment about pushing a marshmallow through a coin slot had me rolling.
I would have also loved to see butcher knife guy get to the end of the course, though I really don't understand why you would bring such a light knife. A heavy cleaver (something like a "hog splitter") would have been a better choice.

The more I see it and anticipate more stabbing and prescision cuts for season 2, as well as the brute Force of season 1 I think an enlarged kukri/falcata with a fully sharpened top edge would do a great job.
If I can figure out how to post an image here from my phone I have an idea drawn up...

Just watched your episode and you preformed fantastic. Your blade was truly impressive

You killed it bubba!!! Make that same knife, but 2" longer. ;)

Thanks
Parameters were for a 10" minimum.
That blade is just over 9.5", but they let it pass since I was so used to using it.
Personally, I would want about 13" blade with the same weight and balance as the knife I used.
The knife performed better than I remember from doing the actual cutting, I couldn't have asked for much more.

If I can't be a contestant, I might be willing to donate a blade to someone who would try to use it in the manner that it was designed to be used.

Rick if Christoph Deringer -just did FIF, maybe you have a shot at something.
I expect that it's the govt rules about entry/work/work visa..were unknown or difficult.

Big Chris, your knife looked like it performed the best, as far as cutting and edge retention, and for that you should be proud. Looks like it ultimately came down to time penalties incurred, and certainly not any issues with the knife. Nice work, win or lose.

Ok guys and gals... All of you sending them an email once, twice,,,,FIVE times a week to be chosen as a competitor..... just make sure you wear one of those super GAY kilts!!! Especially if you are a tub of goo! It's SOOO SUPER KEWL!:D:p

Seriously, I'm already bored of it after 1.5 episodes. I'll watch when a member is on I guess. Oh...I'll just tell you now. YOUR NOT GOING TO WIN, okay..:) But as long as ya have fun.

I apologize to anyone offended by the overweight comment. I went from 225lbs(at 6'4"), to 278lbs since being disabled! So my comments ar times was a reflection on my disgust with my obesity. But a friend, brought the insensitivity to my attention. I don't think about people not knowing what I look like. It was a joke with no intended malice towards members, it was in fact very poor taste on the outside. Please accept my forgiveness.

Apparently, they will contact people they feel are suited to the show, so you don't need to email them.
