You forgot to say your name! Tobin Nieto of the Clan MacNieto. :D

Also, Mardi Meshejian will be in the 5th episode on March 15th. Mardi marches to his own bagpipe, should be interesting.

Lots of talented folks this season!

Congratulations to Craig Camerer on becoming the First Episode of Season Two Forged In Fire Champion. Nice knife he created which worked well and as his heat treating showed, it would certainly chop and cut. The Damascus Battle Ax was very efficient and the Damascus and artistic work made it not only a weapon but a purely collectible work of art.

I would not be surprised if his work will be on display at Little Rock and Atlanta.

I know that I am pleased to own three of Craig's knives and will show them here. Perhaps other owners of his knives will do the same. Well deserved recognition and cheque Craig. Sorry I won't be able to say anything in person, but know I love to chat and enjoy the knives I have of yours.

The first piece is a Searles Bowie which I obtained from my friend Roger Pinnock quite a few years ago. I love the carved and pinned handle.

The second I think I got from Roger also which is a nice little hidden tang stag Bowie/Fighter

Lastly is a very nice fighter I obtained quite a few years ago from another good friend, Paul Kessler with a nice Stellar Sea Cow handle and blued fittings. One of my favorite knives.

Certainly looking forward to seeing more of these shows which we get at 10 PM ET via the History Channel. I use the DVR and now have two saved and likely will save a few more as I see that more of either makers whose work we own or makers who we all chat with in BFC will be performing at the Forge in the future. Thanks to all for their participation and to J. Neilsen MS as one of the judges.

I'll add my congratulations to Craig. I agree that his talent level was obvious early in the show. I don't know if he had made a battle axe previously but certainly had no trouble in creating one of quality. Well done!

Same here. The two finalists were who I expected after watching for just a little while. I was happy to see that all the competitors finished without major blade failures.

Chris

Yes, they learned from the first season how not to crack blades. lol

It's kind of a bummer when rookie/newbies get mixed in with old-timers. But then sometimes the old-timers screw up...

Congrats, Craig !

Two I picked up here on BFC.
Nice Stag and excellent blueing on this spear point S-Guard Bowie I acquired from Steven P.

Great first episode back.

I'm so glad that they are no telling the smiths what type of tests their knives will be subjected to. Sounds like they listened to some of the feedback from last season.

Can't say it was that interesting seeing mystery steel make it's return but I'm glad all the smiths called it out.

And now you know the surreality that those around you experience. :D

I'm watching the first episode on the History Channel website right now. Tobin is the first person besides the narrator to speak in the show intro, and they have him wiping sweat from his face in slow motion.

At least he's not running through the waves wearing nothing but orange shorts with a life preserver. :D

That was a good first episode! The hammers were great, both finalists really put something of themselves into what they made.
Can't wait for next week, I'll be competing!

I really enjoyed the first episode.

My only complaint was . . . it seemed a little arbitrary. Did they run that file test on ALL of the knives, or just one they decided to pick on? I didn't see them do that to the other three knives. {The funny thing is that particular knife smashed the ice and then cut the rope anyway - which the winner's knife did not even do! So it did not seem to affect its performance, and isn't the proof in the pudding?} N.B. - I was wrong about this, as noted by glock_556 below.

Also . . . at the end it seemed they just picked the winner because it was easier to swing one-handed. Was that one of the criteria they explained when they sent them home to make the hammers? Maybe I just missed it.

Regardless, I have this set on timer for every week and I am sure I will watch every episode.

You're right! What was I thinking??? :o

Still, did they test any of the other knives that way? It couldn't have taken more than a couple of minutes to do so. Seemed (to me) like they had an idea they were going to eliminate that knife, and they were able to find a reason to do so.

And the lady's knife DID cut through the rope while the winner's didn't, but they eliminated her anyway. I heard the expkanation, and I understood it, but in the end isn't cutting through the rope better than not doing so?

Anyway, I confused those two things, so thanks for setting me straight!
