Forget strider or hinderer, get a pretium!

I would be concerned that it would not destroy my pocket like a strider can... Destroyed pocket = hard use...

The shape of the blade reminds me of a Dozier master hunter. I bet it would work nicely on deer.

Im stoked about it. And strider which I like and own and will alway own one is still an oversized pivot attached to g10. Just saying

Not even close to an RJ design in my mind.

You don't think so? I immediately thought of the Kershaw Rogue, in terms of overall shape.

I'm in the market for just such a knife and I find his youtube videos rather amusing, but the finish on the knife just isn't doing it for me. It doesn't looks to be a tremendous flipper, though it's tough to really tell from the video obviously. I'm just not really sure what it excels at. I almost want to give it a shot because it's limited production and it's possible video doesn't do it justice...hmm... sorry, thinking out loud! haha

What about the Strider CC models? They're not aggressively textured at all.

I feel like pocket destruction is just money wastage. Aggressive retention is good, but there are other ways to do that which preserve my wardrobe. I'm quite fond of jimping on handle spines, myself.

That MSC in post 27 is gorgeous! Still wouldn't buy one, but I have to give the compliment.

Cool knife. But, for my tastes, the lockbar is too close to the end of the handle. Aesthetically (in my view) it looks much better when it is at least 1/3 the way towards the back, or closer to half. That pocket clip looks like an after thought, based on the beefiness of the knife overall. The pivot also looks a bit small for such an overbuilt knife.

I like it just because It is set for a SouthPaw. beyond that its a pretty basic tank knife, to me that is. still cool none the less

G10 is incredibly strong. The blade will probably snap at a point before the g10 will.
lol yet somehow an oversized pivot makes it stronger? I've never seen a pivot fail.

I think all he was getting at were the guys saying the pivot is too small were nit picking trendy hard use features which don't affect use. I don't think he was saying the g10 would actually fail.

The Pretium looks cheap to me. The design features others have mentioned don't inspire confidence either.

Other than that.....

So I watched all of the youtube videos dealing with this knife and once you sort of realize why choices were made and see it flip, you become pretty impressed. It's built to last, should be easy to clean, and the important things were all done with smart approaches and high quality parts. The clip was changed from what was originally going to be used. It's a clip someone else he knows had used, liked, and it was affordable so it kept the prices down (how he explains it in a youtube video). I'm not much of a pocket clip guy, so not a huge factor for me. I'm hoping I will like the look of it in person and do feel it could use some refinement so it looks better going off what I can see now. If you couldn't tell, I pre-ordered one today.

Still not seeing it. RJ has a very distinctive blade shape style and the grinds are just way off on the pretium of what I think has a RJ look. And it is missing the RJ thumb ramp as well.

I watched the video. Honestly I'm not really impressed aside from the deployment speed. I would say I like my Hinderer better, but enjoy your new purchase!

Looks like a nice knife but I would have refrained from comparing it to two of the most popular hard-use knives.
People get all emotional about these things.

Ferrum Forge seems like good people but his designs don't speak to me.
I prefer my SnG with it's plastic handle, prybar blade, gimmicky pivot and hand-raping ergonomics. ;)

I've snapped G10...I've never come even close with steel...

That's great that your experiences dictate otherwise. There are plenty of people who have snapped blades before fracturing the g10. Either way, the core of the argument stays intact: g10 is incredibly strong and shouldn't be considered a weakness when speaking on over-sized pivots. Don't use patronizing memetic pictures in an effort to defeat an argument when your counter argument is based on your personal experiences and absolutely no one else's.
