Forging Bevels from One Side

Use your "schwocker" ( wooden hot forging baton). Speaking of schwockers, I just bought an ash baseball bat billet to turn a couple from yesterday. I've been experimenting with different woods, geometries, weights, lengths etc. over the years, and all things considered, I think that ash bat billet stock has great potential. From what I understand it has a recoil and rebound effect that might give more of a dead blow... absorb shock… maybe some of the properties I’m looking for in a good schwocker. Looks like you could make 2, about perfect, from one bat billet.

I actually already sort of promised it to Jeff. I'm going to turn it on his lathe. My lathe is only 12 inches long max. I am kind of stoked about the new schwocker. I use them for all kinds of stuff aside from forging. Great tool!... would make a handy weapon too…
