I have been reading the thread Oliver Plomion posted and all the responses !!

I know Uncle is very ill and it has been a tough time but damn guys - thats no way to treat anyone. He is a good guy, he has only tried to defend himself and alot of you all jumped down his throat - for what, to defend Uncle Bill. He doesnt need defending.

HI make the best khuks period and has the best customer service. I was always proud of being part of the cantina, still am but guys relax !!

Hope this doesnt open me up for abuse !

:(

He came on kinda strong with that first post but I thought the response was a little strong myself. Probably best to not start another thread about it and just let it go.

my aim is not to stoke or start another fire but merely to try calm things down - there has been enough stress in the cantina lately. It doesnt need anymore !!

:(

If I bought a thing from a total stranger, and it arrived in bad condition -- and I have, I would communcate PRIVATELY with that person and attempt to resolve the problem - and I have. If that didn't work, I might do something less agreeable.

The first thing I would NOT do is go to that person's s store - say his web site, and publicly denounce his products.

Oliver seems like a nice chap, but go back and read the title of his post -- and the rest his first communiction with Uncle Bill regarding the problem. And read his reaction to Uncle Bill's offer to give a half credit or pay to take it back.

If you start a conversation by "throwing stones," you would be well to duck 'cause something may come flying back.

Fair enough but he doesnt know Uncle or HI, we all do !!

He reacted badly but its easy for us to say we would never react badly but I am sure we all have at some time in our lives. He was mad and didnt mean anything by it.

Cut the guy some slack - he is a good man !!

Brendan- did you read my first post to him?

I thought the forumites were doing handstands for him. He did not stop.
look at this another way- some one or something has rewarded him for this. And that isn't leading to change. Being polite all the time is not a service.

However, I take to heart what you've said.

Brendan - You ought to see how I react in person... ;-)

yeah - everyone was being supportive but there were a few ****** things said that wouldve got me going too !!

Like I said he doesnt know the canita or HI !!

What failed here is the way he communicated his concern.

How we say it is as important as what we are saying.

He's french guys - french to english doesnt translate well and we all have different ways of communicating (it's a culture thing). I really dont think he meant to disrespect anyone !

Brendan- being French does not address the excellent points Thomas Linton made. You ask at first, you don't attack. At least I do. It wouldn't occur to me to start blasting away right off the bat. And then if I was reassured the way Oliver was, I'd have apologized and let it go. But he still had a corn cob.

It didn't work. ;)

Brendan- please read my last post in that thread and see if that isn't more to your liking.

A guy in England was just given 8 years in prison for stabbing an armed attacker in his home with a Samurai sword. Three men were trying to break in, and they had guns. Yet he is the one going to prison. I will not go down that path.

We confront bad behavior- and change. We learn from our mistakes. We can't do that if no one calls us on them.

Not only has it not calmed things down but now it's getting all xenophobic. ;)

Great now we're starting to use big words.....give me a couple minutes to look that up :D

It almost always is alright around here. Things can be fixed.

I sure laughed when I heard things were going xenophobic...I didn't expect hollowdweller to say that. When Brendan said- "He's French guys.."
I thought of saying- "Then we were too nice!!" But only in a silly way.
