So after the very quick success of this project last night I started early today and got most of the work done, 24 of these tools. Today the profiling was done, bevel grinding, drilling of all holes (5.1mm) I drill this size because I use 5mm 17-4PH pin material, it is infact it is the same material I use for all the 'stop pins' on all my folders, tomorrow I will drill the lanyard hole larger, bead-blast then laser engrave all logo's, sharpen and finally heat-treat. When you get these tools you will understand why I do things in this sequence, the visual effect is incredible.
Please understand these are not exactly knives but an expedition tool, a digging tool made from an expensive aerospace metal so don't expect a supper sharp edge I have to sharpen to a different angle so the tool is as tough as possible on the edge, you will still have an edge.
One other thing which was not part of this project, I just dont know how many of you are willing to upgrade your package to have a new HSS 5.1mm drill + some 17-4PH 5mm pin material so you are then setup to drill your handle material and put handles on these if you so wish, this option will be $10 up to you, I have to buy these HSS drills in and cut you some 17-4PH pin material to include them in your package.
