Found a knife stabbed to the window frame in my new apartment

Whatever it is, it is in the Case Kodiak style, as Bill mentioned -

To my eye, it was used to hang something, perhaps plastic sheeting or a drop cloth of some type. If the window's hard to get to, etc...., I can see someone using the knife as a hanger, then forgetting it. I've seen that done before, I wouldn't worry about it.

I highly doubt it was put there to be used as a hanger. I'm betting it was something to do with feng shui. Personally, I would leave it there.

I lived in Taiwan (Taipei) for nearly a decade, but I never saw anything like that.

I have never found a knife in an apartment but, I did find a bayonet under the spare tire of my wife's car.

She bought the car from our local Ford dealer and drove it for years, never needing to use the spare. One day I pulled the spare out and sitting perfectly center under it was a M6 bayonet with sheath. She though I put it there. Later we discovered that the car had been an Enterprise rental and the dealer got it from them.
 
A lot of post-WW2 German hunting and tourist knives were made in that style and are still made today by folks like Linder. So it's not necessarily strictly a "Case Kodiak" style.

None have that buttcap in conjunction with a balled end guard. It's a Case Kodiak or one of the very recent copies.
 
I don't know anything about the culture of Taiwan, but I'm guessing someone found the knife and just stuck it there for no reason at all.
When I was a little kid me and my dad went over to my grandparents house for some reason I don't remember while it had been being renovated by my uncle before being sold When we got, and there were multiple old hunting knives ...ect stuck in door frames and stuff as my uncle and whoever else was helping him found them and stuck or threw them there just for fun or whatever. I wish I had thought to ask my dad if we could take them as some were no doubt knives from his childhood and I believe one of them was the missing pair to the hatchet he gave me. ( they were rusty, but nothing I currently couldn't restore )
Anyways my point is that it's really not a stretch to think that someone could've found an old rusty knife and stuck in a wall or window frame " just because "
 
This is a common element of protection rituals in esoteric circles. The person that put it there was trying to ward something off. If they believed it worked then they probably slept a little better at night or went off to work with one less thing to be concerned about. Sounds like a win win situation to me. My security company notifies me after the perimeter has been breached but LEO is "unable" to respond until hours later. I wonder who has more peace of mind?
 
Looks structural to me...remove and the roof comes down on you. Lol
 
Cool find! I found a crappy old meat cleaver in the garage when I moved into my current home... I played with it for a minute then threw it away
 
20 years ago, I found a stag handled bowie in the garage of a house we were flipping. Took it to a gun and knife shop and sold it for $75. No markings on it, so I have know idea of the maker.

Current house, I found a old folder in the medicine cabinet. It was shoved way over to the side, difficult to see. Found it after living here for a few months. Kinda freaked me out when I finally saw it, because I swear we cleaned it when we moved in.
