I have a bit of a story here...

The Sunday after Christmas, my extended family had all gathered to open presents. Zip ties inevitably held several children's toys hostage and literally everyone turned to me and asked for my knife. (I have a reputation, you see.) Given that I had been to an out-of-town church, I hadn't put my EDC in my dress pants. When I gave the excuse that I don't have a "dress pants knife," my sister-in-law asked if that was a thing.

So I googled it and found this 'ere place.

Now, I've carried knives most of my life (stole my dad's traditional when I was ten). Prior to stumbling onto the BF, I had carried the odd assortment of knives from traditionals to Wal-Marts to unnecessarily complicated and impractical S&W monstrosities. I felt pretty proud of my current EDC, a SOG Spec Elite I and the most expensive knife I'd ever owned.

Then I saw the picture that changed my life (and my view of Spydies). When I laid eyes on the Vallotton Sub-Hilt, I knew I had to get it. I tossed into my order a Native 5 LW since I had a bit of Christmas money left over. And it was downhill from there. So here's my going-from-complete-quality-knife-ignorance-to-obsession-in-two-weeks collection:

The knife that started it all.

The rest of the bunch.

I'm personally in love with Natives.

And here's a shot of the whole collection (such as it is) after I finished blowing all my gift monies from the last year.

Anyhow, that's a long "Hi, my name is Phenn and I'm a knife addict." But I figured it was a story worth telling. Can't say enough about how awesome the BF community is.

WHAT! Out of production, where did you hear that?

I'm not sure out of production is the official term. But discontinued in 2014 per this thread: http://www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=65946

I'm assuming that means OOP? And given the relative difficulty I've had finding Natives it would make sense.

But I'd be happy to be told I'm wrong on this...

ETA: Looks like it's all the old, big-swedge models. Hopefully the N5 in all its manifestations sticks around.

Ok That makes more sense, Thanks,

Ive got one of the older models and love that thing.

I have the Vallotton too, truely a work of art. And, if you like the Native, check out the Fluted Ti! That was a Christmas present to myself. :p Welcome aboard brotha!

Same thing happened to me. I had seen Spydercos in the cabinet at my favorite gun shop, came home and googled them and ended up here. I now have a box full of them along with a number of nice customs. Seems like its getting worse. I have had to investigate machetes and now axes. This place is really bad for the wallet.

Phenn, Those are all great, but it seems like you're still missing a "dress pants/ going to church knife". Might I recommend a Chaparral.

BTW Welcome to the forum and the addiction.

Thanks. And don't tempt me. :p I've been eyeballing the Chappy from the beginning...
