Found my lost knife, need advice.

I use Lthium Soap/Grease on all my knives. I clean them first with warm water, then blow them dry, then clean them with WD-40, and wipe them dry. I bake the WD-40 in, by literally cooking my knives at about 100 degrees for 20 mins. Finally, I spray a liberal coating of Lithium Grease to the ENTIRE KNIFE!

Using my fingers, I wipe off SOME excess, leaving the blade still wet with grease. Sometimes, I rub the stuff into the blade with my thumb and forefinger, trying to get every nuck and crannie. I then lave the knife in a warm place overnight, and the next day, either fold it up and clip it on, or sheath it.

The blade is left slick and clean, and the Lithium actually aids in cutting for certain materials.

And I just wipe mine once or twice a week with Marine Tuf Cloth...

I have never had to use Naval Jelly, so I am not sure, however the BT2 coat is Teflon based so I doubt Naval jelly will hurt it at all. My suggestion is you get some and try a small amount where the finish is damaged, see what it does. If you do not use something to kill the rust (I once used a rust convertor kit for cars, it changed the chemical composition of the rust thus killing it) then the M2 will start to rust again, no matter how well you look after it. In fact the pit will get bigger and BIGGER untill it eats the knife, and it will then turn on all you knives and...

Doh! Sorry, I forgot it was M2.....I'm glad to see that you didn't take my advice to bead blast it.

It looks good and that ding is its battle scar, adds class.

Bead blasting SUCKS! I carry a bead blasted CUDA and a Black T coated BM 710. I've never seen a spot on my 710, but I have to take the rust pits off of my bead blasted CUDA once a month.

UPDATE Naval jelly works! It doesn't bother the BT2 coating. Now the blade looks fine and there is no discoloration, which was most likely small pits of rust.

Thanks again.
