Fox Knives Problem...

I currently have the FOX 479, 478, (for 3 years) and the newer FOX 599 Black G10 & 599-TK Orange Trainer (for almost 2 years) and I have NEVER had any issues with the screws falling out. I ad one screw come loose a bit, but since I put a little Loctite (Thread Locker Blue 242), I've had NOT ONE PROBLEM with it since and that was over a year ago. All I'll say is that you need to always check your knife at least once a month and lube it (if you're frequently using it). I use one drop of Tuf Glide (from Sentry) on the apex of the blade and I have a Torx screwdriver to check the tautness of the screws to make sure they're tightened, but NOT too tight (as screws may strip, and that can happen with ANY knife manufacturing company). I also own and check my Emerson Combat Karambit that I own as well.

By the way I got my FOX 599 Karambit at the only place you can get them. Since I can't leave the website link all you have to do it just Google: FOX 599 Karambit and you'll find it. Only one person here in the states sells them anyway. Sure I had to wait 2 months, but MAN it was well worth the wait and just as good as the Emerson Kbit. Also, I understood the Terms & Conditions, since I took the time to read the information BEFORE I purchased, whereas others don't and then complain saying: "Where's my order?" Knowing what I have, even if I had to wait for 3 months, it's worth it. These FOX 599 Kbits knives are amazing!!! A knife (to me) is just like a hand gun, you have to make sure it's always working and ready for use. Just my thoughts on it.

Whatever...

A few less BOLD Font entries might be a good start.

Any other knives you really like...?

I own all of these knives have been a fan of quite a few Kbits over the years and so far the one I like the most is the FOX 599 Kbit & Emerson Combat Kbit. So it doesn't matter to me what you do or don't "buy," I'm just giving MY thoughts about it. I thought that's what this forum's about... Not everything about what a couple of people on here say about it needs to be negative. These knives haven't failed on me yet and I've put these Kbits through a lot. On a side note, you don't even know me, yet you judge without discretion. You should brush up on your people skills a bit... dude...

You have to admit though, you come on here and your very first post reads almost like a testimonial. Complete with keywords bolded and everything. People are skeptical, and you cannot blame them especially in a case like this. As far as "Terms & Conditions" are concerned, do you read the EULA on every single product you buy? like when your bank changes its credit card or debit policies, Microsoft or Mac products use, etc. I sure don't, and don't know many people that do. It seems that you did overlook this websites rules, and terms. It's rare, and I mean rare that someone gets a warning on their very first post here, unless they are a returning banned member or outright spammer. You failed to heed your own advice here, especially the last comment in the quoted post.

Just out of curiosity is there any connection between member Ladislao and KBitowner?
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/717824-any-reviews-of-Fox-Karambit-waved-folder

Ladislao constantly ressurected the linked thread only to say good things about the Fox karambits and posted in the same style and manner as KBitowner with the bolded key terms. I don't know if its just me, but I feel that they're bolding terms solely to promote Fox knives. In order to draw suspicion away, other random terms are bolded as well as doing as such really makes no sense.

Anyhow just curious if the mods can do an ip address check.

I'll let you know in a couple minutes. In the event that it is, it's yet another case of selectively reading Terms and Conditions (so to speak).

I'd have to agree with Misanthropia. It is a bit suspicious and such being the manner of your first post, you of all people should expect this kind of response. Regardless, I always give the benefit of the doubt so perhaps you did come across this thread shortly after you joined while coincidentally having the positive experience you described with Fox karambit.

Its just the manner in which you posted, this particular scenario, the style in which you presented your experience, and the deal spotting that pulls out a few ques.

Now see, THAT'S the way to approach someone, with constructive comments. That's what I meant about using discretion. Like I stated before, I just love the product and haven't had any of those issues. Also, I was using a comparative with other Kbits that I own as well (like Emerson's Combat Kbit), that's all. I think they're both great knives and have held up very well.

By the way, I'm not making excuses, but giving a reason; in my initial post I was just being detailed and giving my input on how to correct this minor issue with possible loose screws on this or any knife. I'll work on not being so "salesy" the next time I post a comment. Thanks for the input.

Looks like you were. Thanks for the heads up.

The reason I came off so aggressively is because it was clear to me from the linked thread that it was the same person, just by the manner of speech. While we all welcome input on knives here, it is next to impossible to believe anything from a man who raves about a knife available only from him. When your entire business is centered around one product, no one is going to give it middling reviews. Not only that, but creating multiple accounts to give the impression that it's a non biased third party opinion is a bit deceptive.

The bold text was really suspicious, so I just googled "fox knives good bladeforums" and that link was one of the first that came up.

I can't agree more. Thanks again. :p
For the record, shilling is against the rules here, manufacturers are more than welcome to go through the proper channels to secure a free of charge discussion forum here. It's good for the community overall. Duplicate accounts are also against the rules, the policy is to ban duplicate accounts as they are found.

Well I will definitely do more research on the Fox folding Kbit prior to spending my money. Has anyone bought the fixed Fox Kbit? Or even the Emerson Fixed Kbit? I have an Emerson Super Kbit, and love it especially the deployment wave feature. I have a couple other cheap folding Kbits, and I got what I paid for... Mind you the Boker plus is not bad, but the S&W is crap...

Definitely do your research, but I would say take the negatives with a grain of salt. Seems like a lot of people are going through ebay, second-hand, or third-party retailers. Be aware of the knock-offs, they are all over the internet, and there were plenty littered around ebay until recently they took down a majority of knockoff Fox Karambits. People could get them for less than $20, and they look close enough to the real thing that they can resell it for ridiculously hiked up prices. Their design is nearly identical [logo, blade composition label (a total lie for sure), ambidextrous clip placement], but one key difference is *most* of the knockoffs do not have the Emerson patent no. on the blade.

I mean, at that price, it's great for practice. Plus it would be a good way to see how you like the design and grip. The legit trainer is a bit overpriced IMO at over $100.

But getting the knife itself, I would recommend getting the knife from either the distributor (foxknivesusa) themselves or another place that *they* recommend. I'd rather shell out an extra $20 or $30 for a legitimate product so I will know if it's good or not. Besides, in a fight or fight situation, I'd rather not have a knockoff that could close on my fingers and several reviews swear by the liner-lock.

Been waiting for mine ever since July. Fox USA did not have them in stock back then and this was way before the redesign of Lad's page. Some folks should go back to selling real estate and contact lens cleaner and leave the knife selling to retailers. Why have I not seen this on Knifecenter yet? As of today, all they have is the 479, and that is out of stock. Seriously, I would have trusted them to do more business for me than one guy in particular for the US.

Hello. I just joined as well. I've been researching on the Alum Karambit because I do not like the 599 ONLY because I don't want the put the labor into sanding and detailing the G-10 surface. A good friend of mine owns and uses his 599 daily and what KBitOwner has said about maintenance and such is true. I use thread lock "glue" on all my knife clips and also use Sentry lube on all my moving parts. I am a meat inspector with the state, and formaly worked in slaughter houses for years. Fox knife blades are among the sharpest and easiest to hone/work with that I have dealt with. Accuse me of working for Ultimate knife if you wish...I don't. Fox knifes will have my business over Gerber and Ka-Bar. Only downfall of the system...the wait period (which Kbit addressed). Hope this post helps somebody decide on a Fox knife. Dal
